contain security group id of application owner. Error ERR-7620 Could not determine workspace for application (). The application had been working fine and it puzzled me why the link wasn't working. A direct link to the application worked but when using an alias in the URL it failed. If I changed the alias the error went away ... but I didn't want to change the alias because it meant I would have to find all the links that used it. Which sort of defeats the point of using an alias in the first place! The solution was to find out if any other applications http://stackoverflow.com/questions/37132811/error-err-7620-could-not-determine-workspace-for-application-4500 were using the same alias. So I ran the following query against the main APEX tables in my FLOWS schema : SELECT * FROM (SELECT COUNT(ALIAS) "COUNT",ALIAS FROM APEX_APPLICATIONS GROUP BY ALIAS) WHERE COUNT>1 ORDER BY COUNT DESC; This highlighted another application in a different workspace that was using the same application alias. An Oracle developer had cloned my application for development purposes and it ended up with http://www.mattsbits.co.uk/item-143.html the same alias as the live application. Once I changed the alias in the copy my application links started working again! have now updated my dynamic action sample application, the links in this post no longer work. Please see this blog post for details. As many of you http://anthonyrayner.blogspot.com/2010/01/apex-40-learn-more-about-dynamic.html may know, APEX 4.0 Early Adopter's was released before Christmas. In this release, we introduce a new feature called 'Dynamic Actions' that provides a declarative way of defining client-side behaviour, without needing to https://www.inside-oracle-apex.com/generic-solution-for-cascading-select-listslovs/comment-page-1/ know JavaScript. There is a simple wizard to create new dynamic actions, whereby you just specify 'When' the dynamic action will fire, the 'Action' itself and 'What' will be affected. As I could not said, you don't have to know JavaScript to do a fair amount with this feature, but there are also some hooks for JavaScript developers to extend the dynamic action framework to do a whole load more!! To help you understand this feature, I have put together a sample application containing lots of different uses of dynamic actions such as drag and drop, styling page items and could not determine interactive reports, retrieving data from the server via AJAX, responding to plug-in item events such as the 'Slider' sliding and more. You can either view the application running on the EA instance here or download it from here, so you can install it in your own EA workspace and have a deeper look. If you haven't yet signed up for the APEX 4.0 Early Adopters, take a look at David Peake's related blog post where he explains how to get started. Note: If you are installing this application, there is one supporting object defined containing a simple PL/SQL function 'getCommission' used by a couple of the examples. During the install, please install this supporting object to get the full functionality. Also, the application requires that you have a copy of the standard 'EMP' table in the parsing schema for the application. The application makes use of a number of native dynamic actions (that will be built-in to APEX), but also contains 5 dynamic action plug-in examples which you can look at, install and play around with. The plug-ins are: Draggable - Define page elements as draggable, with various options such as restricting by vertical or h
→ Generic solution for cascading select lists/lovs Posted on November 22, 2006 by Patrick Wolf Note: Before you read on, cascading LOVs are now natively implemented into APEX 4.0. See my related blog posting Oracle APEX 4.0: Cascading LOVs/Select Lists. After implementing several times a select list/popup lov, which is depending on another item on the same page (see the AJAX example from Carl Backstrom), I thought that it was time to come up with a more generic solution where I don't have to implement javascript code and on-demand processes for each lov anymore. I thought if the render engine of Oracle Application Express (APEX) is able to generate the SQL statements on the fly, I should be too 😉 My goals where that I don't have to include any Javascript code or any other specific code onto the page and that I don't have to write an on-demand process for each select list/lov anymore. And of course I don't want to use selects-list with submit, I want that my application is "sexy" and uses AJAX for partial page reload!!! 🙂 So everything should be "out of the box" as APEX would already provide this feature. My solution after thinking about it for a while Create a generic Javascript library which handles the dependencies between the items. It should be able to clear and repopulate all depending items, if the value of an item changes. Write a process which fires on page 0, which reads the APEX data-dictionary to determine the relationship between the different items and generate the necessary calls to my generic Javascript library. But which has to be aware of existing Javascript code which may has already been registered for an onchange event on the item. Write an on-demand process who is able to execute the select statement of the lov definition and return the result to the Javascript library (see the existing AJAX examples) which will update the select item on the page. And f
