the following error, continually: > > ERROR: Could not connect to the GPSD server, will connect in x seconds > > > > Any thoughts? > > > > Also, I'm running this on an MSI netbook, with a Realtek 8187 wireless card. > > I edited kismet.conf, adding the following: ncsource=wlan0:name=realtek:type=rtl8187. > > > > Does this look correct? > > Thanks in advance > > In your Kismet.conf file, make sure you set gps=false. Correct. If you don't have a GPS and dont plan to use one, turn off the gps support in kismet, or else it will continually try to connect. And no, that's not correct syntax. The format is: ncsource=interface:option1,option2,option3 so ncsource=wlan0:name=realtek,type=rtl8187 however you don't need type for properly supported cards, so you can just do ncsource=wlan0:name=realtek Reply to this message Error on startup - pbk 22:30:05 11/02/2012 Error on startup - laserpad 19:53:05 12/02/2012 Error on startup - dragorn 20:40:18 12/02/2012 Return to index

If so how? Is it sudo kismet? Or do I reinstall kismet and use suiduser install instead of make install? Last edited by mike22; September 14th, 2008 at 05:54 PM. It's not only because of dump file issues, but also because you need to be root to access wireless cards in the way that kismet wants. So run it with: Code: sudo kismet Personal site | Understanding Wireless Chipsets | Troubleshooting ndiswrapper | The VAR Guy Adv Reply September 14th, 2008 #3 mike22 View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message A Carafe of Ubuntu Join Date Aug 2008 Beans 111 Re: kismet dump file error I still get the same error.
