Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. Seems like that error is often because of a bad installer DVD disk. Take the DVD back to the store where you bought it, and explain. They should replace it for you. It's the 1st gen. intel 1.6 GHz Core Duo (32 bit), with 2 GB ram. Snow Leopard supports this hradware, correct? Some quick googling suggests that this is probably a hardware issue.I use it as an HTPC now and wanted a clean install, so I copied what I want to keep and erased the drive to get rid of all the accumulated cruft. Unfortunately, now I can't reboot from the hard drive, or eject the snow leopard disc.My external hard drive back-up is a borrowed NTFS drive so I can't try installing to that. I tried re-partitioning the disk this morning, but the install failed again.The next things I was going to try are:-Re-partition the drive and zero out all data. Is there any chance this would work, or is it a waste of time?-Installing to my ibook G4 in target disk mode. I don't mind wiping this one, but would this hardware combo even be supported?-Open it up and take out one ram stick at a time and try re-installing-Buy a new hard driveAm I missing anything from my list?Is the
