Solution 3 Comments 1,604 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-11 Due to an unfortunate incident, an SQL Update which was in progress got interrupted, and as a result, one of my views in my master database is a bit unhappy. When I start my SQL Server up from the command line I get this error: Error: 4502, Severity: 16, State: 1. View or function 'sys.dm_os_sys_info' has more column names specified than columns defined. invalid object name could not use view or function because of binding errors I know there is a system stored procedure known as sp_refreshview, but when I run it like this: EXECUTE sp_refreshview 'sys.dm_os_sys_info' Select all Open in new window I get the error: Msg 15165, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_refreshsqlmodule_internal, Line 55 Could not find object 'sys.dm_os_sys_info' or you do not have permission. I am presently running my SQL Server using the T902 switch, so that the script "sqlagent100_msdb_upgrade.sql" does not run and prevent the database from coming online. I need to fix the abovementioned error prior to re-running this script. Can anybody suggest a fix that I can apply to overcome the error 0 Question by:LesterClayton Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 17 Active 1 day ago Best Solution byLesterClayton Ended up removing the SQL Instance and reinstalling. Select * from FruitTable Where Name = 'Apple' Everything works fine until I decide that I don't need the Active column anymore, and drop it from the Table. After re-running the function i get this error -- Use the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23092433/remove-a-column-from-a-table-value-function-after-an-underlying-table-has-been-a function it fails Msg 4502, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 -- View or function 'GetApples' has more column names specified than columns defined. Select * from GetApples() I've looked around and see that this is an occurrence with views if a table is altered, however with this function I'm selecting * from the FruitTable and expected that if any changes were made to the Fruit table whether adding or removing columns in the future that the Select * would be beneficial as I don't have to define the column structure of the resulting table. Also I just performed an SP_Help on the function and noticed that it looks like even though I did a select * there actually is meta data stored about the columns. SP_Help GetApples --Column_name Type --Id int --Name varchar --Active bit So I have two questions. Is there a way to drop the column from the function, or refresh the function in some way after the Alter? Given that I'm running into these problems with select * in the table value function would it be better to actually define the resulting table column structure, or is there away to do what I wanted with the select * that would not require too much upkeep when altering the underlying table occurs? Thanks Here is the test S
