I can connect to the Sybase database fine on my PC, when I copy the files up to the server I get the following error: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (Sybase System 11). at Microsoft.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection.Open() at finance.simfim.FetchSybaseData(String strSQL) in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\finance\simfim.aspx.vb:line 364 I am storing the connection string in the system error code 126 odbc windows 7 web.config file as: Any ideas???? I've got the same problem while connecting remotely to SYBASE. I'm installing all the necessary SW in the server machine for the runnnig of my application. Today I've installed the SYBASE client tools because yerterday was giving me an error telling me that the datasource and the ODBC Driver was incorrect (more or less, I don't remember). So I decided to install the SYBASE Client Tools in order to get installed the ODBC Driver it comes with. I've tried my application again and the error was the same as yours: -------------------------------------------- ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (Sybase System 11 (Version 10.0.3T4)). ----------------------------------------------------------- Could be because of the version of the Sybase ODBC Driver? Please, if you've got some ideas or if you've solved the problem, I would greatly appreciate your advices. Thanks in advance. (C:\…\…dll). ========= ANSWER ------ The path to the ODBC driver which is listed in the Registry is incorrect. To repair, edit the registry as follows: Open the Registry Editor (click the Start button in Windows, select Run, type: REGEDIT, click OK)Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI Look for the corresponding http://www.anysitesupport.com/odbc-error-the-setup-routines-for-the-x-odbc-driver-could-not-be-loaded/ key named for the driver you are working with, and select that key. Look at the Driver and Setup strings on the right. Now open Windows Explorer and attempt to browse to those paths in your file system. Chances are you will not be able to. For example, you may have C:\WINNT\system32\sqlsrv32.dlllisted, when in fact your system has the driver at C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqlsrv32.dll Edit each String to the correct file path, and you will no longer experience Error 126 ========= EXAMPLES ------ see ANSWER ========= APPLIES TO / KEY WORDS ------ ODBC Database Connection File Path ========= REF ------http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260558 --http://www.anysitesupport.com/odbc-error-the-setup-routines-for-the-x-odbc-driver-could-not-be-loaded/ http://anySiteHosting.com Leave a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. From the web app, I get the error: ERROR [IM003] Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (SYBASE ASE ODBC Driver). But the connection tests fine from the ODBC manager and other applications, such as Access, WinSQL, and even a .NET console app. The web application works fine on two other servers with older Sybase clients installed; I believe they are version 12. I've checked the versions of the Microsoft components (.NET framework, MDAC) between servers and they are the same. So it doesn't appear to be a .NET issue. The connection string looks like this:
