I guess since we are talking about a connection interruption these would be technically TNS errors such as ORA-12560 "TNS:protocol http://stackoverflow.com/questions/159721/how-to-find-oracle-error-codes-that-could-result-from-a-connection-error adapter error." But I have noticed a couple others depending on where exactly the connection is lost and would like to get a full list. oracle ora-12560 share|improve this question edited Apr 1 '11 at 16:47 OMG Ponies 199k37361417 asked Oct 1 '08 at 21:01 George Mauer 35.7k81246467 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Take a look at Oracle Database Error Messages 11g Release 1 (11.1). While this isn't an eloquent solution, we switched from using the Connection Type 'TNSNames' to BASIC (and then manually supplied the hostname/port/&SID ==> all available via a tnsPing or just looking at the tnsnames.ora file) and it worked. While I would have liked to fix it, getting his developer worker was more the pressing concern and we left it at that. hth –Harrison Aug 11 '11 at 11:34 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2150962 Re: SQL DevErr:The Network Adapter could not establish the connection VenCode20 Posted: Dec 7, 2011 3:23 AM in response to: MehulDoshi Reply This worked for me: Open the "New/Select Database Connection" dialogue and try changing the connection type setting from "Basic" to "TNS" and then selecting the network alias (for me: "ORCL"). share|imp
