When I attempt to upload the web service files (*.asmx & *.asmx.cs) to the web server I get the following error message: Parser Error Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Could not create type 'UpdaterWS.Service1'. Source Error: Line 1: <%@ WebService Language="C#" CodeBehind="Service1.asmx.cs" Class="UpdaterWS.Service1" %> Here is the interesting part. I found that if I combined the code contents of "Service1.asmx.cs" into the "Service1.asmx" file, then the error message goes away. The solution works, however, Visual Studio complains when it finds two different syntaxes in the same file (ASPX and C#). Contents of combined "Service1.asmx": <%@ WebService Language="C#" Class="UpdaterWS.Service1" %> using System; using System.Collections; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; using System.Web.Services.Protocols; namespace UpdaterWS { ///
