[2011-09-29 20:40 UTC] meris (Marek Drtilek)Hallo, I have same problem. I test pecl install, but the result is same. A need make rpm stomp-1.0.3 on Centos 5.6, Pear version 1.9.1. Any idea? Than Marek [2013-10-16 15:46 UTC] oernii2 (oernii bbbbbbb)This still exists in RHEL 6.4. A workaround is to create a symlink (as root): ln -s /home/rpm/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/php-mongo-1.4.4-1.x86_64/var/tmp/mongo /var/tmp/ Modify for your package. I frequently find that when the admin gives me remote access, that I get the following output upon login. [joe@mycomputer ~]$ ssh bob+ldap@foo.edu bob+ldap@foo.edu password: Creating directory '/foobar/users/bob'. Unable to create and initialize directory '/foobar/users/bob'. Last login: Mon Jul 29 13:05:27 2013 from bar.edu Could not chdir to home directory /foobar/users/bob: Input/output error -bash: /foobar/users/bob/.bash_profile: Input/output error -bash-4.1$ -bash-4.1$ echo $HOME /foobar/users/bob The admins I interact with know way more about Linux than I do. My questions are: Why do I get "Unable to initialize directory"? Is that an error on their part, or is that intentional for security? I'm assuming they ran useradd bob without the -m option when they created my account. Why is my shell name 'bash-4.1' and not 'bob'? Update I'm guessing that because I am not a normal user on the system, I don't have a network share foobar/users, just local storage. It seems strange that such a high percentage of servers I log into would configure their server the same way. Starting to download solr-1.0.1.tgz (100,683 bytes) ......done: 100,683 bytes 28 source files, building ERROR: could not chdir to /var/tmp/solr/tests The issues seem to reside around the extraction of the packages once downloaded and inability to locate the config.m4 file once extracted to run phpsize. The extracted path /var/tmp/solr/tests doesn't exist. This problem isn't affecting all package installs via pecl, just some.
