After I selected the 180 degree rotation, the screen rotated properly but all the rotation options were grayed out so I closed the System Preferences to http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/181778/display-preferences-pane-could-not-be-loaded try the process again. When I go to my OS X Display preferences I get the error "Display preferences pane could not be loaded". One of the worst bugs I've ever ran into, because once it's triggered you'd struggle to fix it while your screen is upside down, especially if you don't have any peripherals handy. 07 Jun2016 Could not load Date & Time preference pane By me@grafxflow - 7 Jun, 2016 I recently transferred my old Macbook Pro content http://www.grafxflow.co.uk/blog/mac-os-x/resetting-system-preferences/ to my new Macbook Pro using Time Machine transfer. All the data went across fine but one thing I noticed was the date and time was out by an hour. Then when trying to change the settings in System Preferences -> Date & Time I would get the following popup with the message ‘Could Not load Date & Time preference pane‘. After many hours could not of searching I found the answer… or at least it worked for me. Go and delete the following files. Users/Username/Library/Preferences /com.apple.systempreferences.plist /Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist Then restart your mac. Hope it works for you.
