Database Engine Error $2a04
until a few days ago we started getting the following kind of error, from BDEAdmin and from BDE based applications: Exception EDBEngineError in module BDEadmin.exe at 00054F92. An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland DB Engine (error $2A04) I'd be grateful for suggestions on what this means and how to proceed to solve our problem. Thank you very much. Solved BDE Error $2A04 on high-volume website Posted on 2000-09-03 Delphi 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 2,874 Views Last Modified: 2008-02-20 We have a long-standing website (a property search engine) which has been growing in popularity over the past year. It is now reaching peaks of serving over 50,000 http://www.delphigroups.info/2/83/330040.html dynamic pages per day. It is written as a Delphi CGI Application running under O'Reilly Website Pro running on a twin PIII 700 with 512Mbyte RAM. It has recently started to suffer from an increasing number of failures, which all take the same form. A CGI request fails with the message "Unhandled Exception: An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine (error $2A04)". From that point and for the next 20 minutes, all accesses to the https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/11180171/BDE-Error-2A04-on-high-volume-website.html site return the same message - effectively locking the site. After precisely (as far as I can determine) 20 minutes, the system clears itself and starts running normally again. At least until the next bout. I believe the problem is load related, since it only seems to fail at the busiest times of the day. The other possibility (I think a remote one) is that it caused by a bad call to the BDE which is in a path which is rarely used. That too would correlate to more frequent errors at times of heavy load. I'll be grateful for any help I can get on this one. 0 Question by:johndymond Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byranfo I have seen this myself, so I will attempt an answer. I hope this works for you. Every time someone accesses your database, a new instance of your CGI is opened on your server. Brascam » Tue, 25 Sep 2001 18:48:15 Hi, I'm currently maintaining a website (www.atla*ualheritage.nl) which makes use of cgi, and the http://www.verycomputer.com/158_022e4479c70b99a9_1.htm cgi apps in turn make use of the BDE and DBase tables. Sometimes the error above occurs, presumably when 2 users are starting a cgi app at the same time. Does anyone know how this error can occur, and more importantly, how to prevent it from occuring? TIA, Karel Top 1. database engine error initializing Borland Database Engine I am new to Delphi so this error may seen mundane to you. I wrote this program in Delphi 1.0 and placed it in the network (needs to run in Windows 3.1). It works great on my computer but it will not execute in any other. I get the database engine error error: Exception EDatabaseError in module Esitmate.exe at 0007:11EB An error occurred while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine (error $2108). My guess is I need to copy a file (some files???) to the location where the program resides in the network from my computer (Database engine?). Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. -- Richard A.
