I have a workaround https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/926939 in place but would like to get this fixed permanetly. I am running Server 2003 x64, the site ran fine for months without a problem. Suddenly the problem appeared and not sure what caused it. When my .asp file tries to access an Access database I get this error: Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005' Unspecified error /vest_gallery_back.asp, line 11 Line 11 refers to: Conn.open "PROVIDER=MICROSOFT.JET.OLEDB.4.0;DATA https://forums.iis.net/t/prev/1192938 SOURCE=c:\websites\bbt\data\BlackTie.mdb" I verified that my IIS is running in 32bit mode. I have checked permissions for IUSER_computername has full control, checked my temporary environment variable (C:\WINDOWS\TEMP) Any ideas what the problem may be? Thanks for any help that may be offered! If you're using the default settings then you need to add 'Network Service' with modify perms. If you're using app pool impersonation then you'll need to add that particular user with modify perms to the access database. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. /YourSite/YourDataAccessPage.asp, line 15 Alternatively, you may get this error instead: Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005' Operation must use an updateable query. /YourSite/YourDataAccessPage.asp, line 15 Both errors basically mean the same: the account that your Web server is running under does not have the necessary permissions to read from or write to the database.
