It seems to be hanged forever and finally pops an error window "Fatal Error - Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server". Does anyone know how to solve it??Acrobat version: 9.5.2Windows 7 305979Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 16 replies 1. Re: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server Test Screen Name Aug 17, 2012 12:29 AM (in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1050902 response to iepias) Do you have something called "Symantec Endpoint Security". I just did a search and found some mentions that this stops stuff from working. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server iepias Aug 21, 2012 2:32 AM (in response to Test Screen Name) No, I didn't. Finally I uninstalled and went back to Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 and it worked fine. So I suspect that the problem is due to some problem in version updates. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server Donna_Kressner Sep 2, 2012 3:25 PM (in response to iepias) Here is the situation:The user will be fine opening and printing to PDF. Suddenly: When opening a PDF or attempting to print to PDF the message:"Fatal Error - Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server" I have users experiencing the exact same message only in Citrix (never on a local machine). The issue is intermittant. We are using Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.5.1. We do not have Symantec Endpoint security enabled. Back leveling to 9.0 is not an option. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 4. Re: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server YuvrajShinde0
the Microsoft SMB Hub Insider program, I designed and authored a survey that captures an organization's software usage, then https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/134868-adobe-acrobat-fatal-error-failed-to-connect-to-a-dde-server generates a dynamic report comparing that usage to similar organizations. Not sure way the first time opening the pdf she gets failed to connect the DDE Server error then it will work after that. thanks Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Adobe fatal error Adobe Acrobat error 1648 Adobe Acrobat 10 Error   1 2 Next ► 26 Replies Serrano OP BTS9345 Apr 7, 2011 at 2:05 UTC Not sure which version of Acrobat you are using but this might be helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/416414

Thanks, Chris 0 Poblano OP Kelly McCathran Sep 7, 2011 at 12:11 UTC In Acrobat 10 this issue is often caused when Protected Mode is on (new to 10) to disable, go to Edit > Preferences, click General and un-check Enable Protected Mode Here is more detail on Protected Mode:http://www.adobe.com/security/acrobat_reader 1Guest Guest Outlook fails to start up after I've closed it once. I get an error message that mentions "DDE Server Window" and a suggestion to open in Safe Mode. Using the Detect/Repair feature doesn't resolve the problem. When I shut down the computer, I also get a dialogue box saying the program is not responding. However, none of the 3 alternatives you mentioned worked. In trying to follow instructions for Method 1, I didn't get an Open box - the computer simply opened a dialog box that said "windows cannot find outlook.exe....." The dialogue box that I get when I shut the computer down doesn't mention "No Disk," it only says "DDE Server Window" and says the program is not responding. So, I'm not sure that the solutions you provided are aimed at this specific problem. But, thanks for your effort.
