This is even more evident when hooking up your setup through an A/V Receiver. There are two general problems that occur when you turn on your TV. First, sometimes the HDMI sync/handshake http://www.teknowebworks.com/WMC-Display-Driver-Error-Reset will change your resolution from 1080p to something less desirable. Second, sometimes you will get the dreaded "Display Driver Error" when trying to play TV. 2012 by mymce Problem:- I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.Suddenly I am getting the following error within Windows Media Center:- "Display Driver error. The video playback device does not https://mymce.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/fixing-display-driver-error-the-video-playback-device-does-not-support-playback-of-protected-content/ support playback of protected content." Resolution:- This problem may be caused by several things:- a>It may be due to audio issue. It can be fixed by updating the audio driver. Some times Setting up audio output for 5.1 instead of 7.1 in speaker fixes the issue. Some times un-check “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.” under the sound advanced properties display driver helps.Open Control Panel> Click on Sound icon > Select your default Sound device > click properties > go the Advanced tab. Under Exclusive Mode un-check “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.” >Click OK. b>It may be due to graphic card issue.Old driver may be incompatible.Updating the graphic card may resolve the issue. c> See also:- HDCP over DisplayPort is not display driver error validated in Windows 7 Media Center. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2392252 I found that changing fullscreen mode to windowed mode or vice-versa within Media Center sometimes fixes it. Disable the S/PDIF if you are outputing audio via HDMI and enable exclusive control and give exclusive mode priority. I also turn off my system sounds and my WMC "sounds" in the settings. Hope this helps!🙂 Reply Jeffery Okada says: July 24, 2014 at 10:25 am Try this fix.
