Two weeks ago I used Seatool to check for errors and both, https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/304581-driver-detected-a-controller-error-which-hdd-is-device-harddisk2-dr2 short and advanced test were passed. Today I ran Seatool again but only short test and again passed. I also tested with chkdsk/r to check boot sectors and no errors. Tomorrow I'll do an extended test again but I think it'll go okay too. Finally I found that the reason of this error was a pendrive I put on USB port and that Windows told me to repair it because it contains problems. Indeed I plugged out the device wrongly because when I saved a .txt document, notepad crashed. Windows Disk Manager (I don't know the exact name in English) recognize my hard disk as 0 and the log said disk 1 (I assume it was the pendrive). I check the disk manager and from what I see in there my primary harddisk is located in channel0/Disk 0 while Disk1 is driver detected a from my removable USB flash drive. Does that mean the one mentioned in the EVENT was just actually my flash drive? Why was it called a harddisk??? Please someone confirm this for me because I'm getting paranoid if my harddisk is already starting to fail. Thanks for any helpful reply... The backup lasts around 30 minutes, everything looks fine, the Exchange backup seems complete and ready to be restored if needed (that's nice). But once or twice a month, and recently once or twice a week I see in the Disk event log this error "EventID 11 The driver detected a controller error\Device\Harddisk1\DR1". The error happens around 9:30PM, just when the backup has finished or is finishing I guess... There is always the same error logged 5 times in a row within 2 or 3 seconds around 9:30PM.It seems to me this issue might be related to a problem with the "sleep mode"? Should I update the driver (if available)? Disable sleep mode in power management? (this might not be very good for the drive to spin all the time). Disregard the error? (why not, my backups are ok...) Is the disk or controller is about to fail? Help! Thanks.
