within your network implementation (especially when VPNs or multiple NICs are involved). These configuration issues then cause the TCP Socket to timeout, which then causes the Winsock 10060 error to occur. Unfortunately, there are no settings within our software that would either cause, or prevent a Winsock 10060 error (or any other Winsock error) from occuring. However, here are some things you can try: First make sure that all socket error 10060 connection timed out windows 7 routers & firewalls between the Local & Remote Machines, and any firewall software on the remote machine itself (i.e. Windows Firewall for SP2 or Vista, etc..) are properly configured to allow the necessary traffic to pass through. Our software is compatible with any firewall (hardware or software), but you must properly configure the firewall to allow the necessary traffic to pass through. Otherwise the connection will timeout with a Winsock 10060 error. Please see the following knowledgebase article for more information: Using DameWare Development Products in Conjunction with XP Service Pack 2 Also, if you are currently using version 6.x of the software, then after you install v6.x of the MRC Client Agent Service on the remote machine, once the Client Agent starts up it should automatically create a port exception in the Windows Firewall (under Vista or XP) for the specified TCP port used for communication (default is TCP 6129). But make note this does not open the ports required to remotely install, remove, start, or stop the MRC Client Agent Service, only the port specified to use for communication. Additionally, when using the MRC software over VPN connections to connect to these remote machines, you also need to keep in mind that the VPN may

Did I break my precious IceChat 5.50 Build 010905?[09:06] * Attempting to connect to irc.quakenet.org on port 6667 [09:06] * Socket Error: 10060 : The attempt to connect timed out [09:06] * Connection closed from irc.quakenet.org I am connection timed out sure you know, but I went to look to see what this Window Socket Error Code meant:WSAETIMEDOUT10060 Connection timed out. Quakenet has a lot of servers, you can get a list off of their website of specific ones.10060 is not a problem with IceChat, its just that the servers are not responding. This happens at times with regular DNS pool server addresses that use irc.networkname.com, its usually better to use a specific server. Also, try using a different port number, say like 7000. At times this helps as well.Channel.ini has nothing to do with this, that file is used to store window locations, sizes of IceChat, so that when you restart IceChat, everything is resized the way you had it previously.
