I am primarily a Linux security center service error 1075 user so I'm kinda lost here as her machine is running XP. It's a Dell XPS M1210 which, conveniently, did not come with a recovery CD

or even partition. Anyway, a few weeks ago her wireless network device stopped working. It would look like it was connecting, but it would hang on "Acquiring network address." At first I thought maybe the device was shot, until I had the

chance to test out the wired ethernet, which has the same problem. After quite a bit of googling, I ran services.msc, and saw that DHCP is not running. When I try to start it from that menu, however, I get this message: "Could not start the DHCP Client service on Local computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." After more googling, I discovered that DHCP has only 3 dependencies: TCP/IP, AFD, and NetBt. I checked the error 1075 the dependency service vmware workstation registry, and those were the only ones listed. After even more googling, I ran devmgmt.msc and selected "show hidden devices" and double clicked on "non plug and play devices." I TCP/IP and AFD are both there. NetBt, however, is not. I've spent hours doing further googling and tried pretty much every fix I could find and nothing seems to work. If the PC had shipped with a recovery CD I imagine this would be easy to fix but alas no luck. I need to get this working so I can set up my new internets and I'm totally at a loss...appreciate any help I can get. I have traced this to the NETIO Legacy support driver which the DNS is dependent on not exisiting and am unable to find this driver in the non-plug and play drivers in device manager. I have run sfc/scannow with no errors returned. There was some malware that has since been cleaned and the most recent Malware bytes came back http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/277539-dns-server-client-wont-start-dependent-service-does-not-exist.html with no issues. I am able to access the internet with no trouble but cannot access all shared drives within my domain or all network printers. I have a feeling enabling the DNS and IP helper services will solve my problems but I am open to other solutions. I tried to run a system restore but there are no restore points early enough on the system. I'm open to anything short of re-installing windows. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." I also see Error 1110 with a source of Userenv in the event logs. I've searched high and low and cannot find a solution. I tried turning off all 3rd party services and rebooting, service error 1075 no luck. I also tried demoting and promoting its DC membership. I ran a few diagnostic checks and the outputs have been attached. The only issue I can think of is DNS. I had to manually create the SRV records for this and another remote DC. The other remote DC is working normally. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/repl.txt http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/netdiag_fix.log http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/NetDiag.log http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/469410/dcdiag.log

Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Netlogon/ In the right pane, double-click the DependOnService value . In the Multi-String Editor dialog box, type the following strings on separate lines, and then click OK: LanmanServer LanmanWorkstation Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer. The Netlogon service starts as expected. How to Flush DNS in Windows Using the Command Prompt Step 1 – Close all open web browsers and applications on your computer. Step 2 – Open the Windows command prompt by selecting the “Start” menu and then go all programs, accessories, then right click command and run as admin. Step 3 – At the command prompt, enter “ipconfig /flushdns” followed by pressing the “enter” key. After a moment, Windows will display a message similar to: “Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.” Once the message is displayed, the DNS will be flushed removing all incorrect entries. Then , we want to get the IP reset, so, lets renew its settings and see if this also helps out : you will type in the command box : ipconfig /release then enter, then next ipconfig /renew then enter, this will reset the IP , now restart and attempt to have it reconfigure its connections to your router.
