Hi! While backing a SQL database onto another system after mapping the drive I get this error saying "Operating system error 112(There is not enough space on the disk.)..". There's a lot of space on the Destination server. But when I back it up onto the same machine the backup's successfull. I'm not

even able to copy and paste the backed up file onto another machine. can someone help me out on this The size of the DB is 5GB. Is it the problem with the size?? Thankyou For answering Satya and Loach... I'm logged in with Sa user on the server and also logged on in administrative mode on both the machines (source and destination servers) I think I've not communicated clearly I'll try and put in my query more eloborately. 1. We have a server which hosts the SQL server and the Database X installed on it. The size of the database when backedup is around 5 GB. 2. We have a backup server which has all the backed up files. 3. I've scheduled the backup using the SQL server agent (Scheduled in Sa user mode). 4. I've created a folder by name DB backup on the backup server and I've assigned access rights to it for administrator user. 5. I've mapped the DB backup folder as a network drive to the Server. 6. Now since DB backup folder acts as a drive in the actual server I scheduled the backup into that folder. This Process worked successfully earlier, but then the size of the database was relatively smaller actually very small. Tha

System Error Code 112 There Is Not Enough Space On The Disk
Hi there,I have this error when performing database backup (using maint plan)BackupMedium::ReportIoError: write failure on backup device 'K:\MSSQL\Bkup\xxx_OR\xx_OR_200512010117.BAK'. Operating system error 112(There is not enough space on the disk.).But drive K contains 353 GB of hard disk http://www.dbforums.com/showthread.php?768901-Operating-system-error-112(There-is-not-enough-space-on-the-disk-) space. How can i interpret this error. Is this I/O issue. The command executed isBACKUP DATABASE [xxx_OR] TO DISK = N'K:\MSSQL\Bkup\xxx_OR\xxx_OR_200512010117.BAK' WITH INIT , NOUNLOAD , NOSKIP , STATS = 10, NOFORMAT.I have restarted the backup with FORMAT option and now it is in the processes of backing up(Without NOSKIP).Any pointers as to why this error is appreciated Helen--------------------------------Are you a born again. It creates a new backup file, and then deletes the old backup file after creating the new one. It needs enough space for 2 backups files bacause of this. This is the safe way to do backups, because you always have a backup file on disk. The solution is to make sure you have enough disk space for 2 backup files. What is the size of your database. I know with 353 Gb available space the pointer I reference may not be the case. Do you have other disk ops on that disk at that time - make sure the recycle bin isn't containing files. Could not adjust the space allocation for file 'xyz_LOG'. restore database is terminating abnormally."Here is some more information.* I do have enough disk space. I don't know why its saying there is not enough disk space because i've around 2.55 GB disk space available and my backup file from which i'm trying to do this database restore (with .bak extension) is only 177 MB!I also operating system error checked database property of the production database from which I created this back up file. That database has datafile size 278MB and trasaction log file size 3277 MB.I'm new to sql server and trying to get this solved since last week but no luck. While trying to resolve this issue I am creating new problems every day with the existing databases (One of which i posted just 2 days ago here)! please help me out.
