it to work, and now I'm getting a very generic error. It says that Office 2010 has encountered an error during setup, but it doesn't specify what error. There's not even a code. I created a new administrator account, and it gets the first error again. I also cannot access (or take ownership of) the EQUATION folder from that account. Does anyone know how to fix this error? What is the error 1303 equation EQUATION folder, anyway? Also, I understand locked-down folders, but why are there folders that give an Access Denied error when you try to take ownership of them? not allow you to install your own company's software??” asked a Microsoft Answers user after experiencing error 1303.This issue has occurred on Windows computers as early as Microsoft Office 2000, and still happens http://www.pchealthboost.com/blog/from-frustration-to-fix-error-1303-a-brief-guide/ when installing Office 2010. It doesn’t take place all the time, but when it does, it causes frustration.Common Error 1303 ScenariosThree years ago, someone bought a Gateway computer that had a trial http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/130364-Error-1303-Installing-Office-2007 of Office 2007 on it. This person tried to upgrade for free to the 2010 version of the same program. In the process, a message appeared. It said, “"Error 1303, Setup cannot error 1303 access the Folder C:/Program files (x86) Common Files/Microsoft shared/VBA/VBA6.”In other words, the person trying to set up the new program version couldn’t change VBA6 permissions. This usually occurs when a computer user tries to install a program when not logged in as the administrator. This user could not install or the later Office version.Another person struggled with a similar issue when updating setup cannot access a Dell and also couldn’t get Office 2010 to work. This requires entering in “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\msiserver” when prompted.Edit the “Default” value in the new registry key.Enter “Service” in the “Value data” box.Click okay and close the registry editor.Reboot in Safe Mode again. An alternative and perhaps easier fix attempt involves these steps:If you’re a Windows 7 user, locate the folder when error 1303 appears.Right-click the folder and click “Properties.”On the Properties tab, click “Security,” then select “Advanced.”Click on “Change permission.”Click “Add,” type “Everyone.”Click “Okay.”Run your Microsoft Office setup disk or use the installation file.Isn’t There An Easier Way to Fix Error 1303?Changing registry keys can cause you worse problems if you don’t do it correctly. You have to know what you are doing or find someone to help you – or something. The pe
