Details Type: Bug Status: Closed Priority: P3 Resolution: Cannot Reproduce Affects Version/s: 6 Fix Version/s: None Component/s: install Labels: webbug Subcomponent: install CPU: x86 OS: windows_xp Description FULL PRODUCT VERSION : java version "1.6.0" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b105) error 1311 source file not found data1 cab Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0-b105, mixed mode, sharing) ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION error 1335 the cabinet file data1 cab required for this installation : Microsoft Windows XP [Verze 5.1.2600], XP Prof. SP2 CZ A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM : When installing JDK 6 using error 1311 no logon servers available Windows offline (.exe) installer, after selection of desired parts (JDK, JRE, sources etc.) and installer doing some work, it pops window with following message: Error 1311: Source file not found: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Data aplikaci\Sun\Java\jdk1.6.0\ss160000.cab. Verify data1.cab file download that the file exists and that you can access it. with "Retry" and "Cancel" buttons. "Retry" doesn't work, "Cancel" aborts installation (after confirmation). File is there, readable. Moving extracted cabs and msi files from above mentioned directory to another one without spaces and diacritics in path name and running msi installer by hand, installation succeeds. STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM : Download Windows offline installer from java.sun.com page.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND : Move unpacked cabs and msi files to directory without spaces/diacritics in it (tried one without both, don't know what exactly of these two is the problem). I asked the submiter to provide the machine that the error could be reproduced. During installation, an error presents with the following content "Error 1311. Source file not found" and the installation does not continue. Symptom Presentation of message 'Error 1311. Source file not found' during installation. Cause Operating systems allow opening compressed (zip) files without extracting them. Some required files are not automatically extracted and are not available to be used during the installation process. Resolving the problem Stop the installation. Extract all of the files in the compressed (.zip file) to a new folder, and run the installer executable ('setup.exe') from that new folder.
