Unknown Error 17 Iphone 6
error occured (17)", and my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode. (I have a program to iphone error 5 "kick" it out of recovery mode so I can still use it without needing a restore.) I'm not sure what is causing the problem, but error 17 itunes downgrade it's really anoying and I would like to get it fixed ASAP. I have already tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, disabaling my firewall, and uninstalling my antivirus, but nothing has worked. I am positive that the problem is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLAxI2ufcfU not being caused by the iPhone because I have tried to restore / update my old iPod 4g, resulting in the same error code... One more thing, I was getting "error 3004" earlier, but that turned into "error 17" whenever I disabled / uninstalled my antivirus (McAfee from Bell)... Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks. iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.2 Posted on Oct 25, 2013 1:42 PM I have this question too by WickedOrange,Solvedanswer WickedOrange Level 1 (10 points) A: Hi,I've https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5484090?tstart=0 just had the same problem with iPhone 5s and because I have a Windows PC and a MacBook Pro, I tried on both side: with the same error : unknown error (17). I found a post here on the apple community, about how to fix this error on Mac OS X (https://discussions.apple.com/message/24051676#24051676) and it worked for me. I tried, after fixing the problem on OS X, to see if there's any similar fix for Windows and I found this (http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netsysm/article.php/991281/Net-Tip-etc hosts-for-Windows.htm). In theory, in /Windows/System32/drivers/etc there's a file named "hosts" that looks like the one on Mac OS X. I haven't tried yet but maybe if you delete from that file all the *.apple.com entries, it should work again. Let me know! 17 is very similar to error 3194 even though the latter happens more often than the former. https://www.igeeksblog.com/itunes-error-17/ According to Apple's support documents, Error 17 comes up when there is a connectivity issue. Fixing iTunes error 17 has a lot of similarities to fixing error 3194. But we'll be https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/ITunes_Errors taking an approach that aims to stick to the default position in iTunes, hosts file etc. to clear out the error. iTunes error 17 should usually show up when you are error 17 trying to upgrade to a new iOS firmware version. For instance, at the moment, people trying to iOS 7.1 from 7.0.x might face the issue. And since we have a diversified demographic (various devices, jailbreak statuses, previous alteration of the hosts file etc.), you might have to try a variety of things before the error gets fixed. Check your network Since we're talking ios 5 beta about connectivity issues, most of the time the issue lies with iTunes trying to - unsuccessfully - connect and download the required IPSW file from Apple's server. This doesn't necessarily mean your network is down or buggy but checking it helps. If you are on Wi-fi, make sure it's stable. If you can switch to LAN till iTunes downloads the file, do it for a stable network. But if you are sure your network is working just fine, jump to the next tip. Firewall, Administrator Settings An anti-virus like AVG Scanner can put up security blankets on the way your computer connects to the internet. This might be in the form of a firewall that lets you access your email and browser websites but prevent iTunes from contacting Apple's servers securely to access the required files. Try turning off the anti-virus and test the update process. Also, check the individual firewall settings of the Mac/PC you are on. Make sure there are no restrictions. Editing the "hosts" file Did you happen to edit the hosts file sometime back? Doesn't matter if you remember or not. Let's
