With the information you had uploaded, I find some errors and there is some reference to troubleshooting: 1. Fatal Error:DsGetDcName (PLUTO) call failed, error 1722 It seems that there is DNS related issue. The RPC server is unavailable. To troubleshooting this issue, please refer to the following link: Troubleshooting RPC Endpoint Mapper errors http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839880 2. An net use or LsaPolicy operation failed with error 1203, No network provider accepted the given network path.. It seems that the netlogon share and also that more DCs in the domain exist can't connect to. check the status of the SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares. Also, please refer to: Troubleshooting missing SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares on Windows domain controllers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/257338/en-us hope this helps! Join Now One of my branch domain controllers, SINGAPOREDC https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/653215-replication-problem-rpc-server-unavailable-error-1722 is not replicating with its replication partner in our data center, CENTRALDC-02. I discovered http://www.networksteve.com/enterprise/topic.php/DCDIAG_fails_with:_call_failed,_error_1722,_Could_not_open_pipe/?TopicId=85753&Posts=18 the issue when I noticed an updated file in the netlogon folder was not updating everywhere. It seems to be just this one branch server. Other branch domain controllers that replicate with CENTRALDC-02 are fine. On SINGAPOREDC, the RpcSs.exe is listening on TCP port 135. It is open in the firewall, and querying the port returns that error 1722 it is listening. It's also listening on ports 389, 3268, and 3269. Performing a dcdiag /test:replications on SINGAPOREDC shows errors 1256 (The remote system is not available) and 1722 (The RPC server is unavailable) replicating from the central DC to the branch DC. No errors running this on the central DC. Performing repadmin /replsummary also shows error 1722, with 4 fails out of 5 attempts. I have rebooted both of these DCs. The call failed error RPC service is running. It appears to have all of its DNS records in place. Forcing a replication via Sites & Services sometimes throws an error saying it can't communicate with the server. Performing dcdiag /test:dns /v /e on SINGAPOREDC gives many errors, as shown below. Note that while it fails communicating with some domain controllers, it passes for others. Got this error for several but not all domain controllers. TextLdap search capabality attribute search failed on server LONDONDC, return value = 81 Got error while checking if the DC is using FRS or DFSR. on the OS configuration specific to a Domain Controller, rather than the Directory Service itself, but I thought this was still the best place for my question I have a 2008 forest with a root domain and 4 child domains, 53 DC's in total over multiple sites. I ran a DCDIAG /c /e from a DC in the root domain, and +40 of the DC's returned the following errors: Starting test: Advertising Fatal Error:DsGetDcName (DCName) call failed, error 1722 The Locator could not find the server. DCName failed test Advertising Starting test: MachineAccount Could not open pipe with [DCName]:failed with 53 The network path was not found. Could not get NetBIOSDomainName Failed can not test for HOST SPN Failed can not test for HOST SPN DCName passed test MachineAccount Starting test: NCSecDesc Ldap search capability attribute search failed on server DCName, return value = 81 DCName failed test NCSecDesc Starting test: NetLogons [DCName] An net use or LsaPolicy operation failed with error 53, The network path was not found..: DCName failed test NetLogons" I did some testing and worked out DC's that passed these tests were either in the same domain or the same site as the source DC. Conclusion; it was resolving the DNS name in the former and doing a broadcast lookup for DC's in the same site for the latter. Therefore all DC's in child domains and not in the same site failed the tests listed above. Therefore my question is; is this normal, should I just expect a dcdiag /e to fail in a multi-domain forest? How would you normally configure DNS or the OS of the DC to resolve this? Do people normally change the network properties to append DNS suffixes for all the domains/is it okay to append the DNS suffixes, or will this cause issues on the DC?
