Module .. failed to register.' during GFI product installation PROBLEM While installing a GFI product, an error prompt (Error 1904) indicating that a module failed to register (specifically a certain .dll file) is displayed. ENVIRONMENT Various GFI Products Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2003 SOLUTION Ensure that the installer failed to register is still running with error displayed, so that the DLL being registered exists and is not removed during "rollback" Next, you will want to install "Dependency Walker" (http://dependencywalker.com) on the server in question. Please be sure to install the correct version for the version of OS you are running. Once installed, load the application and go to "File" > "Open". Please point to the DLL that is mentioned in the error prompt as failing to register. This should load an analysis on any dependent DLLs that are possibly corrupt or missing, and guide to the DLL which registering is failing on Once you have an idea of what DLL is causing the failure, investigate the dependent DLL to see if something is either corrupt or missing on the server that the GFI installation is running on Example: Error 1904. Module D:\Program FIles\GFI\FaxMaker\gfiadrbk.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel. Dependency Walker shows that "gfiadrbk.dll" is depending on "MAPI32.dll" which is missing/not found MAPI32

The ClearCase install may also fail. If you click Cancel, a message appears asking whether you want to quit Setup. If you click Retry, the error message reappears. If you click Ignore, Setup continues but may not include all ClearCase components. The Microsoft C++ runtime library (msvcrt.dll) may be corrupted, or exist in multiple locations on the machine. The user performing the installation doesn't have the required administrative privileges to perform the installation. Resolving the problem Resolving Cause 1 above: Empty the Temp Directory. The Temp folder may contain files that are interfering with the installation of ClearCase. To remove these files, use the appropriate method for your operating system. Terminate any memory resident programs and Anti Virus software and attempt a reinstallation of ClearCase. Search the machine for all instances of msvcrt.dll. It should exist in
