I managed to deploy on 2 test machines running IIS 7.5 on windows small business server 2011 and windows 7 SP1. But when I wanted to import it to my production machine (also running IIS 7.5 https://forums.iis.net/t/prev/1179702 on windows server 2008 R2), I got an error saying the zip file is not in a supported format. I found nothing on the web, help much appreciated. Thanks Reply Jean Sun 1733 Posts Microsoft Re: Can't import application: "zip file not in a supported format" Jan 26, 2016 04:18 AM|Jean Sun|LINK Hi, Zip format is recommend by MS when building a web deploy package. And you have deployed the package successfully on 2 test machines. So I would suggest that you should check the Web Deploy Tool on your production machine, make sure it’s well installed. And you can check the Web Deploy Log to find more detailed error information. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. My guess is that the error 401 iis folder permissions were mangled when I shared the wwwroot folder. I tried unsharing the folder and restarting IIS7 but I'm still getting the error. Does anyone know the default permissions needed for the wwwroot folder? IIS7 is configured with default settings (i.e., I haven't changed any IIS7 settings). Any help is greatly appreciated. Here's the steps to return to the default permissions for the wwwroot folder: right-click on the wwwroot folder and click Properties go to the Security tab and click the Advanced button click the "Change Permissions..." button and make check the "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent" checkbox remove all permission e
house on my laptop (perhaps if we see sunshine this summer that might even be outside!). Anyway, after basking at my success, things quickly went wrong. Aside from moaning about Homegroup stopping working after a few log-ins, I came upon a rather serious problem with IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. When I ran the web sites on my machine locally (e.g. via LOCALHOST), only the ASPX files and AXD files would display. Everything else was blocked with a 401 Unauthorized error (I found this out using Firebug): The worst thing about this error was the lack of solutions in the Googlesphere. Digging into the IIS Log Files, I found that the error was in fact 401.3, which can result from corrupt permissions (or permissions that do not align to the Windows Access Control List). Anyway, to cut a long story short, here's how to fix it: Right-click on each web site folder and click Properties Select Security > Edit If IUSR or IIS_IUSRS is listed, select and Remove them Then click Add and select the IUSR and IIS_IUSRS entries Provide each of the above with Read and Read & Execute permissions Restart IIS Comments No comments have been posted.
