But when i created a new user today in the morning and tried to access any database on server through browser(Internet Explorer), following error gets generated in the browser page: Error 401 User not authenticated In Domino console also following message gets displayed at the same time: "User Not Authenticated" I am able to access any database with the same user through Lotus Notes client. I have checked every field in that users person document but without any success. I have been creating users and using them as web users till yesterday evening without any problem. What could be the reason? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks & Regards Pankaj Rawat Return to top Error 401 "User Not Authenticated" (pankaj rawat 28.Nov.02) . . HTTP; input; internet; credentials; username; not authorized; unauthorized Technote (FAQ) Question You upgrade your server to Lotus Domino 6. You notice that when a Web user enters an incorrect user name and password when accessing the server, the Domino HTTP task does not log an Error 401 "You are not authorized" message to the server console. These messages are shown on the server console for Domino R5 servers. http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/46dom.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/a1063340a4b011fc85256c7f0020e0c6 Answer The behavior of logging Error 401 messages has changed in Lotus Domino 6 due to an enhancement request. These errors are captured in the Web Server logs but no longer display on the server console. You can set a parameter in the NOTES.INI if you do wish to show these Error 401 messages http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21181197 on the console. Excerpt from the Domino 6 Release Notes: Web Server: Error 401 is no longer logged to the Server Console In releases of Domino prior to Domino 6, the Web Server would log Error 401's to the server console. Error 401 is generated for two different reasons; a user attempts to access a particular resource that they are not authorized for, or a user has failed to authenticate. These errors are still captured in the Web Server logs. If an administrator wishes to re-enable logging Error 401 messages to the server console, they can do so with the following notes.ini variable: HTTPLogUnauthorized=1 Document information More support for: Lotus End of Support Products Lotus Domino Server Software version: 6.0, 6.5 Operating system(s): AIX, IBM i, Linux, Solaris, Windows, z/OS Reference #: 1181197 Modified date: 2004-12-16 Site availability Site assistance Contact and feedback Need support?
