Error 404 Page Not Found Wordpress
vote 9 down vote favorite 2 In case if error occurred on my web site I do the following: Server.Transfer("/error.aspx"); and that page has code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { ... Response.StatusCode = 404; } If I work on the localhost then together with 404 status returned for the page, page displays 'proper error description'. Once I published the same code to the internet all error 404 page not found docker pages with errors are still displayed with 404 status code, but the don't have the content. Instead, they have the standard 404 error message: 404 - File or directory not found. if the line "Response.StatusCode = 404" commented out then the proper page is provided, but it has 200 status code. Question: how to return user-friendly error page that in the same time has 404 error status code? Any thoughts are welcome! Thanks a lot in advance! P.S. ASP.NET 4.0 asp.net http-status-code-404 share|improve this question asked Apr 12 '12 at 2:57 Budda 7,5162087156 I've always done custom 404 pages in the same way. 1) Transfer to error page 2) user friendly page copy and a 404 under the bonnet for robots. One site I'm trying to do this on now I'm having exactly the same problem - if I add "Response.Status" then a standard 404 is displayed - remove the response.status and the page copy appears but returns a 200. My uneducated guess is something changed in .NET4 framework... –Jag Apr 29 '13 at 10:50 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote 360 games PC games error 404 page html Windows games Windows phone games Entertainment All Entertainment error 404 page not found joke Movies & TV Music Business & Education Business Students & educators error 404 page not found localhost Developers Sale Sale Find a store Gift cards Products Software & services Windows Office Free downloads & security Internet http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10116804/how-to-return-own-404-custom-page Explorer Microsoft Edge Skype OneNote OneDrive Microsoft Health MSN Bing Microsoft Groove Microsoft Movies & TV Devices & Xbox All Microsoft devices Microsoft Surface All Windows PCs & tablets PC accessories Xbox & games Microsoft Lumia All https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/315122 Windows phones Microsoft HoloLens For business Cloud Platform Microsoft Azure Microsoft Dynamics Windows for business Office for business Skype for business Surface for business Enterprise solutions Small business solutions Find a solutions provider Volume Licensing For developers & IT pros Develop Windows apps Microsoft Azure MSDN TechNet Visual Studio For students & educators Office for students OneNote in classroom Shop PCs & tablets perfect for students Microsoft in Education Support Sign in Cart Cart Javascript is disabled Please enable javascript and refresh the page Cookies are disabled Please enable cookies and refresh the page CV: {{ getCv() }} English (United States) Terms of use Privacy & cookies Trademarks © 2016 Microsoft here for a quick overview of the site Help Center Detailed answers to any questions you might have Meta Discuss the workings and policies of this site About Us Learn more about Stack Overflow the company Business Learn more about hiring developers or http://superuser.com/questions/657804/iis-7-aspx-site-returns-404-no-handler-or-500-with-handler posting ads with us Super User Questions Tags Users Badges Unanswered Ask Question _ Super User is a question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. I recently migrated to Server 2008/IIS 7, and the site is no longer running (???). The site is located on E:\, so nothing was changed when the OS was refreshed. I recreated the site after the OS install (just like I would for IIS6). When I navigate to default.aspx from another machine, I get a 404 error: I'm not sure why I get the error since the page is there. And more error 404 page bizarre is the favorite icon is served but not the page. I've been poking around in the dark trying to find a solution. Some Googling took to me to missing Handler Maps, and there was nothing for ASP or ASPX at the server level or the site level. So I added a top level handler for the server according to Add a Managed Handler Mapping (IIS 7): Name: ASP and ASPX Default Handler Request Path: *.asp, *,aspx Type: System.Web.Handlers I verified the above handler was enabled at the site level. But the above did not work as I got a different 404 error (if there is such a thing): I also tried changing permissions on the handler to add script and execute. That did not work either. I even deleted the Application Pool and recreated it. That did not work either. And adding aspnet_isapi.dll as the type caused a 500 server error (per another page's suggestion). EDIT (OCT-12-2013): I uninstalled and reinstalled Web Server IIS 7 (the server role). This time, I followed the instructions at How to Install IIS 7 and Setup a Static Website in 13 Easy Steps. No joy (and I could not find a useful Microsoft page on installing IIS 7. For example, this is the junk they are trying to claim is documentation: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725762.aspx). Any ideas what Microsoft has done to break a simple ASPX site? Or any ideas what hoops I should try to jump through next? iis asp Web Platform Installer Get Help: Ask a Question in our Forums More Help Resources Blogs Forums Home IIS.NET Forums IIS 5 & IIS 6 ASP.NET Administration aspx giving 404 errors aspx giving 404 errors RSS 14 replies Last post Dec 06, 2006 07:05 PM by sontek ‹ Previous Thread|Next Thread › Print Share Twitter Facebook Email Shortcuts Active Threads Unanswered Threads Unresolved Threads Advanced Search Reply rmagers 8 Posts aspx giving 404 errors Nov 05, 2006 02:22 PM|rmagers|LINK I'm getting 404 errors in any aspx page when asp.net is set to 2.x on the virtual directory. I've tried the simple pages.. asp pages are fine. The basic aspx page will work when set to 1.X. I've checked the components and all are allowed. All the pages work fine on a development server, once I copy the directories to a 2000 server, iis 5 or a 2003 server iis 6 the files do not work any more..
