Unanswered question This question has not been answered yet. Hi falks, I installed PE 6 on LINUX and everything went find. Portal was coming up and the end and accessible. After a reboot (and acronis diskimage) i first startet db2 wiht the db2 userid, looed fine so for, db2sync's came up. Then with root, I issued the ./startServer.sh WebSphere_Portal. It worked for a while and said "open for eBusiness". Fine. However, starting a browser and pointing at the portal ".../wps/portal/" brought the error message from the subject. As I'm new to portel I don't have any clue. And to be honest, I tried to search for the message, but nothing really helpful came up. And as I said, db2 looks good, I even did a check with db2 commandline and connected to the WP database. Any advice? thank You! Andreas. Log in to reply. This is the accepted answer. There should be a hint in the portal log file. Normally, there should be an exception indicating what is going wrong during startup. Oliver Log in to reply. Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException at com.ibm.wps.services.vpmapping.VirtualPortalIdentificationServiceImpl.loadDefaultVPID(VirtualPortalIdentificationServiceImpl.java:194) Cause One possibility to why this exception has occurred is due to the database-transfer not successfully http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21468672 copying the tables from the 6 source database domains to the target database. In this case, because the source DBSchema was set incorrectly in wkplc_comp.properties, the task was able to access the domain, but failed to find any tables to copy that matched the DBSchema provided. Because the script is not coded to fail if no tables are found, then the database-transfer task does not fail and allows the user to continue on. Resolving the problem The source.

Maybe error 404 initialization my solution will address your problem as well. I wrote about it on this post: WebSphere Admin Port Issues When Connecting Hmmm....Just got an update as I submitted that. Apparently, the problem is documented in the readme for IRAD. After doing the update, you have to delete the WAS server that is created with the IRAD server installation, create a new WebSphere Portal Server in the server perspective, and then bounce IRAD, stopping and starting it again. Then, you need to initialize the server status. Not sure why, but you do. And apparently, you have to do that little initialize server status step in the server perspective every subsequent time you start up IRAD. Sounds reasonable and straight forward. Surprised I didn't just do that on my own. -Cameron McKenzie Post Reply Bookmark Topic Watch Topic New Topic Similar Threads WebSphere Portal V6 and OpenLdap Passed IBM 829 Connecting WAS/WPS to DB2 database Login ID and Password for WebSphere admin console WebSphere Portal Homepage All times are in JavaRanch time: GMT-6 in summer, GMT-7 in winter Contact Us | advertise | mobile view | Powered by JForum | Copyright © 1998-2016 Paul Wheaton
