Now in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/293386 IIS 7 I got web exceptions (see title). For IIS6 I found stuff in the web blaming that it might be an security issue?! In IIS 7 (localhost / Vista with IIS 7)I only found the "Process Model" "Identity" setting for the Classic .NET pool I use (advanced settings). But even if I set this to "LocalSystem" I got 404's. Can anybody help? regards H.Polenz Remoting 404 Reply Robba 99 Posts Re: https://forums.iis.net/t/1093981.aspx?The+remote+server+returned+an+error+404+Not+Found The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found Apr 02, 2007 01:47 PM|Robba|LINK Error 404 means that the site can't find the page you are looking for. Make sure you are pointing to the correct folder and that the folder has the file that you are referencing. I would start by creating a sample default.htm and put it in the folder. Just put the words "test page" inside the default.htm and then hit http://localhost. It should return the default.htm showing "test page" at the top of your browser. Once you know you have the correct folder try your app and let us know from that point. Make sure it's mapped correctly to aspnet_isapi.dll and under "Request Restrictions" the checkbox called "Invoke handler only if request is mapped to:" is UNCHECKED. (this is similar to check if file exists). I used some c# code and tried php (as I have fastCGI installed), as well as error 404 tried telnet to test smtp features set in IIS7 with elho command from another machine where I didn't get errors but no mail is being sent from my server. All nec. ports are opened on my router with no firewall blocking any mail ports on the server software.. I am not using ssl. Tried to use IIS smtp anon. authentication turned on, then with owa 404 error credentials, still nothing pushed out from the server via source code. When I run a diagnostic check from the hMailServer console testing my domain, everything is a green light and checks out as okay & verified. However when I run mx tools - I get 3 errors - 1 on a blacklist for the domain. EX. Category Host Result https XYZ.COM The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. blacklist XYZ.COM Blacklisted by Spamhaus ZEN blacklist mail.XYZ.COM Blacklisted by Spamhaus ZEN I have just used another third party mail server as a trial and that at least worked pushing mail out as using their email client as was able to receive email back in the client) but again when I test with telnet commands and c# send mail code, even php code nothing was pushed out, with credentials and without credentials.iis smtp is not running as a service. For now I have any auth. turned off in hMailServer for my domain (both for localhost and for the Internet).I use no-ip to redirect as a static ip and mail.XYZ.COM is okay as a redirect. I also have mail.XYZ.COM set as a MX
