I just bought my PS3 over the weekend, and ever since I hooked it up, I keep getting this error message:Media Server Error: DLNA Protocol Error (501) has occurredFrom what I've gathered by googling the error message, it would appear that this is http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PS3/Media-Server-quot-A-DLNA-protocol-error-501-has-occurred-quot/m-p/4427251 something related to Windows Media Center, but I haven't even used Media Center with the PS3 yet. Also, when doing an Internet Connection test on my PS3, it says "UPnP: Failed" (even though I've set UPnP to "enable"), and my NAT type keeps saying 3 when I believe I want it at 2.Any ideas or suggestions? professorabsMember Since: March 24, 2008Posts: 25professorabsFollowForum Posts: 25Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: http://www.gamespot.com/forums/playstation-nation-1000002/dlna-error-501-26259309/ 0#2 Posted by professorabs (25 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agoI just read your posting...I just hooked up my PS3 and keep getting the same damn error message...did you ever resolve it??Thanks!!! big_boss4lifeMember Since: December 4, 2006Posts: 2633big_boss4lifeFollowForum Posts: 2633Followed by: 0Reviews: 1 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#3 Posted by big_boss4life (2633 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agohooked it up how?ethernet cable? or wireless`? professorabsMember Since: March 24, 2008Posts: 25professorabsFollowForum Posts: 25Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#4 Posted by professorabs (25 posts) - 8 years, 7 months agoI'm hooked up via Linksys wireless.....music woks fine (for now)......no vids.....and, keeps popping the message: DLNA protocol error (501) has occurred....also, .a network error has occurred 8071053dSometimes even saying: Disconnected from the media server...however, I"m still able to gain internet access....I figure it is just a setting on my desktop...I enabled sharing, etc on Windows Media Player.......kinda at a loss! jspot0Member Since: November 23, 2005Posts: 25jspot0FollowForum Posts: 25Followed by: 0Reviews: 0 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#5 Posted by jspot0 (25 posts) - 8 years, 1 month agoI have the same problem.I use Vista on my Desktop. At first, I used Media player 11 as a media server. There is no network user on a PS3 (sony user name is for completely different purposes). Also on your server go to Settings -> Media Sharing and make sure that's enabled for all 3 media types. _________________ Click on Thank Post if I've been helpful! this point I can't count on it.Anyone know a fix? Mattinglyfan 2008-12-24 17:25:45 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Post by M***@_._Half the time, media streaming works, the other half I get this error. So at this point I can't count on it.Anyone know a fix?here you go Mitch, pretty simple.http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3media&thread.id=96656 M***@_._ 2008-12-24 18:09:44 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Post by Mattinglyfanhere you go Mitch, pretty simple.http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3media&thread.id=96656Thanks. I'd already tried those things and it didn't help.I installed TVersity (again) this morning, and it worked great. But then again, it used to work, then not work, then work, which iswhy I uninstalled it.When the streaming works, it's awesome. It takes no time at all tobuffer and start playing. We've got the whole season of True Bloodwaiting for us. Blig Merk 2008-12-26 00:56:36 UTC PermalinkRaw Message The latest version of Tversity is working great for me but I like my1080p and 5.1 streamed with no transcoding and I am wired from the PCto the PS3 through a gigabit router. Once the movie is in AVCHD/AC3,Tversity will stream it to the PS3 with no loss in bitrate or qualityor framerate. Wireless will not handle this throughput. I got a biggerhard drive for the PS3 to store HD movies on but it is working goodenough that I can store them on the PC now. This new Java PS3 media server is getting some good impressions withpeople that weren't happy with Tversity, mainly because of the MKVstream issue. Tried it out and it seems pretty decent, no installrequired, about a 7-10 second buffer setup during transcode streaming. It does seem to handle more diverse containers than Tversity can.Might be worth a shot, no commitment required.http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/Download pagehttp://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/list Rx 2008-12-26 08:54:14 UTC PermalinkRaw Message "Blig Merk" <***@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:a5c4dcb1-655b-45ae-9167-***@g39g2000pri.googlegroups.com...Meanwhile the PS3 is dead last in the console race and getting pounded todeath by Microsoft and Nintendo.
