Trojan disguised as Adobe Update Install Started by PowerGirl , Jul 27 2011 10:17 AM This topic is error 53 refreshing locked 4 replies to this topic #1 PowerGirl PowerGirl Members 5 posts OFFLINE Local time:09:48 PM Posted 27 July 2011 - 10:17 AM Posting my experience in case it will help someone else. If anyone has any additional solutions - or if there is something further you would suggest I do to ensure my solution sticks and virus is completely eradicated, please share. On Monday 7/25/11, I had what seemed like a standard and legitimate Adobe request (popup) to install updates. I agreed... to my demise. I knew better - I know to go to official sites to check for updates, I know it! But, did not do it. Immediately I did not feel right about it, so tried to cancel and disable my pc, turn off, remove battery, anything to stop but it was too late and adobeupdater.exe was installed. I quickly did a Vipre virus scan and it turned up clean. I knew it was wrong. I phoned Vipre/GFI tech support twice that evening with their suggestions for different solutions, one being to run Malwarebytes' Anti Malware, but it also turned up clean. Continued searching the net for recognized adobe fake updates, etc and found quite a few.

"Please wait while the connection is being established" Started by Christian K , May 27 2012 12:47 PM Please log in to reply #1 Christian K Posted 27 May 2012 - 12:47 PM Christian K New Member Member 4 posts Hello! Apparently I have a virus on my computer: as soon as I turn it on the screens turns white for a couple of seconds with the sentence "Please wait while the connection is being established". After its disappearance the laptop seems to run normal again apart from the fact that there is nothing on the display and no taskbar. The only way of doing anything is by pressing the window-key. After reading this http://www.geekstogo...ng-established/ thread which seems to be very similar I was hoping that maybe someone could help me too. At this point I should propably mention that I have very little knowledge on computers. Oh and I am currently using Windows XP. Thank you sooo much!!!! 0 Advertisements #2 Christian K Posted 27 May 2012 - 01:13 PM Christian K New Member Topic Starter Member 4 posts Ok, one quick update: I now tried to run aswMBR.exe as described in the other post, however, it seems as if my internet connection is not working when being in safe mode. Is there any way to solve this? When I click on the icon networkconnection in order to chose one it stays blank. Thaaaanks!! 0 #3 Christian K Posted 27 May 2012 - 01:54 PM Christian K New Member Topic Starter Member 4 posts So, sorry for my stupid question earlier. I now changed the safe mode to the one with connection so internet is working as always. Sorry about that!Ok,
