Error 676: Phone Line is BusyQuestion I have received the error 676: Phone Line is Busy when trying to connect.Cause * The modem may be experiencing difficulties. * The access number may be incorrect. * The call waiting feature in the Phone and Modem Options Control Panel is enabled, but should not be.Answer: Steps to correct the 676: Phone Line is Busy error.If you do not have the call waiting feature for your telephone line: 1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear. 2. Open the Printers and Other Hardware icon. The Printers and Other Hardware window will appear. 3. Open the Phone and Modem Options icon. The Phone and Modem Options window will appear. 4. Click the Dialing Rules tab. 5. Click the Edit button. 6. Remove the checkmark from the To disable call waiting dial option. 7. Click the OK button twice.Method 1:Restart the computer and then attempt to connect.Method 2: 1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. The Control Panel window will appear. 2. Open the Network and Internet Connections icon. 3. Open the Network Connections icon. 4. From the Advanced menu, if there is a checkmark beside the Operator-Assisted Dialing option, select the Operator-Assisted Dialing option to remove the checkmark. Note: If the option does not have a checkmark, press the Esc key. 5. Attempt to connect.Method 3:Perform a modem validity test.Method 4:Disable V.90 by editing the modem initialization string.
