Now however, I only get the error 87 the parameter is incorrect windows server 2008 IIS server to echo back and there's no sign of the PDC server. As a result, I believe that one of the problems this is creating is that users are no longer able to sign in to the domain since their pc's can't resolve it. Can anyone help on where I need to look first? Thanks. RE: Lost one of my servers in nslookup pQi (MIS) 10 Mar 06 15:52 Is your DHCP and DNS service running? RE: Lost one of my servers in nslookup pQi (MIS) 10 Mar 06 15:52 flush your dns and re-register. RE: Lost one of my servers in nslookup mandg (TechnicalUser) (OP) 10 Mar 06 16:17 Yes, I've verified that the DHCP and DNS services are running. As you suggested, I did "ipconfig /flushdns" and then "ipconfig -renew" however the "nslookup" still only shows the IIS server. The command line I'm using is: netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:99898/ user=ben The error that I see is: Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. There is a local user account named 'ben' that has admin privileges. I've made sure to put a trailing slash after the port number in http://serverfault.com/questions/283237/netsh-exe-error-87 the URL. Google and MSDN documentation are letting me down now - does anyone have any clue what I'm doing incorrectly? windows-server-2008 http netsh share|improve this question asked Jun 22 '11 at 23:51 Ben 183117 Did this question make anybody think of TV crime shows with "IP addresses" like "10.68.342.12" in them? >smile< –Evan Anderson Jun 23 '11 at 3:40 I'll take my lumps here... =) –Ben Jun 23 '11 at 4:44 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Port number "99898" isn't a valid TCP port number. TCP port numbers are 16-bit unsigned integers, so they can't exceed 65535. I would strongly suspect that this invalid port number is the reason for the error you're seeing. share|improve this answer answered Jun 23 '11 at 0:14 Evan Anderson 127k12145287 That's it - I tried with a 4-digit port number earlier, but must have gotten a different error. Thanks! –Ben Jun 23 '11 at 0:21 add a comment| up vote 24 down vote I had the same error; in my case, the mistake I was making was omitting the trailing slash from the URL: C:\>netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8085 user=DOMAIN\myname Url reservation add failed, Error: 87 The parameter is incorrect. C:\>netsh http add urlacl url=http://+:8085/ user=DOMAIN\my
NTFS or ReFSpartition to a FAT32 partition. The error is because the maximum size of a file that can be stored on FAT32 is 4GB. This is http://support.2brightsparks.com/knowledgebase/articles/213468-cannot-copy-file-87-the-parameter-is-incorrect a restriction of the file system and not SyncBack. The only solution is https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/156565/ to backup to a file system that can stores files of that size, e.g. NTFS or ReFS.This error-87 can also occur when copying files to a SharePoint server and the file is of a restricted type. For example, a SharePoint server may be configured not to allow .PST files to be copied to it.If error 87 neither of these apply, it is likely caused by hardware errors and/or disk/file errors (corrupt data). Checking if you can copy the same data via Windows (drag & drop, etc), or changing devices (testing with different external USB drives, flash drives, etcetera) can help narrow down the problem. Unfortunately, it is a Windows error (error #87, as shown), and it is annoyingly 'unspecific'. I am actually using Spring's STS 2.2.0, which is based on Eclipse 3.5.1. Last week, my experience with the feature was great: wrote a pojo with @WebService and @WebMethod annos, right-clicked and said generate web service. Wrapper code and additional annotations flew out. It was great. Today I get a problem when running the jaxws code gen (message and stacktrace from .log file at the bottom). I can't really tell what the problem is except that it can't create the javaw process. (error=87, the parameter is incorrect). I don't see anyone talking about this particular problem and I can't find out what the parameters might be that are incorrect. I can only think that it is a setting or something in my project. Any help? Let me know what info I can provide. log excerpt: !ENTRY org.eclipse.debug.core 4 125 2009-10-26 10:39:53.681 !MESSAGE Exception occurred executing command line. !STACK 0 java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_16\bin\javaw.exe": CreateProcess error=87, The parameter is incorrect at java.lang.ProcessBuilder.start(ProcessBuilder.java:459) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:593) at java.lang.Runtime.exec(Runtime.java:509) at org.eclipse.debug.core.DebugPlugin.exec(DebugPlugin.java:803) at org.eclipse.jdt.launching.AbstractVMRunner.exec(AbstractVMRunner.java:70) at org.eclipse.jdt.internal.launching.StandardVMRunner.run(StandardVMRunner.java:317) at org.eclipse.jst.ws.internal.cxf.core.utils.LaunchUtils.launch(LaunchUtils.java:103) at org.eclipse.jst.ws.internal.cxf.creation.core.commands.Java2WSCommand.execute(Java2WSCommand.java:87) at org.eclipse.wst.command.internal.env.core.fragment.CommandFragment
