What cable have you reconnected "I have also taken the cable and reconnected to the hard drive as well" Have you tried checking both the power & communications cables for a good connection, or is that what you meant in your comment above. g-x Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top jmsalerno Posts: 8 This post has been reported. the hard drive light is on. The cables to the hard drive...I removed and then reconnected. Does that explain? Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top jmsalerno Posts: 8 This post has been reported. Just to clarify again...I disconnected all other devices. Disconnected all components and then checked inside machine...and reconnected just the basics. Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top germ-x Posts: 5310 This post has been reported. Yes, that clears it up. Do you know how to clear the CMOS, if so can you do? The other suggestion is can you put your hdd in another system to verify it is good / bad? Reports: · Posted 5 years ago Top jmsalerno Post

Error code 0141 Msg error code 2000-0141 This is for my friend who has a dell inspiron 1525 Vista ultimate We have done what it says error code 0141 and reseated the hard drive, but we are still getting this message. I have ran the diagnostics test, and confirmed the the drive is not being detected in the BIOS We have tryed to reseat the drive a few times but without any luck.. Is there anything else we could try, but luck is not on our side at the moment as we have no other laptop we can try this drive on. So is this all we can do for now, as we have no way of testing the drive I was wondering what might have caused this, ryan my friend says he had fallen asleep and had left the laptop on for about 10 hours , it was buried in the bed, so could over heating have caused this, or a virus maybe, its anoying not knowing what may have caused this, the laptop is about two years old.... thanks guys.. PS. How do you test the hard drive anyway, can you just put it in "another dell inspiron 1525" not sure on that one........... I'm guessing the motor or board failed on the drive, but I'd prefer if there is a chance the motherboard or controller failed instead. The reason I'm asking is because I don't have a usb/sata adapter and am curious if there's even a need to get one. hardware dell hard-drive share|improve this question asked Apr 30 '09 at 23:39 jayrdub 218512 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted I'm not sure about the error code, "drive not detected" could be a number of problems, including the controller. You can try some troubleshooting by moving the drive to another controller/computer and seeing if it works. Or, put a known working drive in the failed system and see if it works. If the drive doesn't work in another system (or a new drive works), you know it's the drive. If not, then bets should be on the controller or motherboard. This is, of course, assuming you have access to another system. Also, have you tried reseating the drive and/or removing other drives (CD, floppy) attached? share|improve this answer edited May 1 '09 at 1:48 answered May 1 '09 at 1:43 lc. 46137 It was the drive - the new one worked. –jayrdub May 7 '09 at 17:54 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote This occurred to me after a bad firmware update of the hard drive.
