I can open them with Gimp, image view, inkscape etc. but not xara. The error is:"No filters that were designed for this type of file have been found. The import will continue suing the most compatible filter, although the image may not appear as intended." After I click OK button, another error pops out: "Invalid line/shape detected". OK again, it open another tab with "filename.xar" name on it even I was trying to import a .eps file. I installed xara through "apt-get", synaptics, package file and tar ball separately. None of them can import the eps files. The first time start the program after a fresh install, it saying something like "cannot find imagemagick" even I found this package in synaptics and installed it. It also gave errors at start up: (xaralx:31375): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed (xaralx:31375): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed (xaralx:31375): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed (xaralx:31375): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed (xaralx:31375): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_origin: asserti
when I try to open them directly or import I get an error message that says that there is an error detected in the EPS file at line ####. These are files that I purchased and downloaded, and presumably they should not have errors. I don't have other software that is meant to open EPS files, so I cannot verify personally, but I do have reason to assume they are valid files. I saw this post that mentioned the same type of problem - [URL]....... I use to do some technical drawings in illustrator and export them in eps https://www.ncl.ucar.edu/Support/talk_archives/2013/3501.html in cmyk for other software, I think that this is one of the most important things in a pro software. I tried the same think in affinity but 3 on 4 files I did gave me an error detected error when importing in illustrator. It erased some lines. I worked in directly eps and not native file format (maybe that?) Do you have any other file you were working on that you can attach here so we can take a look at all? Cheers Serif Europe error detected in Ltd - Check the latest news atwww.affinity.serif.com Back to top Report #3 Oswald__ Oswald__ Newbie Members 4 posts Posted 26 July 2016 - 09:51 AM ok, we deleted those files ... but we encountered some problems in exporting eps from other files. Attached there are the affinity file and 2 options of exported eps. The exportation doesn't look correct when imported in illustrator, affinity rasterize the grandients. Some times also when exporting a thick line it creates some outline of the line (like a rectangle) and not a line with some width. it is important the compatibility with illustrator because our drawings go to those softwares fo other elaborations. download from here Back to top Report #4 MEB MEB Advanced Member Moderators 11,367 posts LocationLisbon, Portugal Posted 26 July 2016 - 12:19 PM Hi Oswald__, Welcome to Affinity Forums Regarding your sample files, Affinity is not rasterising the gradients. If you open the files in another application other than Illustrator you will see that the gradients are editable. It's illustrator who is rasterising the gradients when it imports data from EPS generated by other apps. EPS files generated by Illustrator have an AI file embedded as a comment that lets it load all the data from it as editable objects and discard the rest of EPS data. Since third-party apps cannot
Fri Nov 15 2013 - 13:14:22 MST Hi Manisha, In fact Gus is right that you are running into a system limit for the number of open files. You may be able to adjust it as he suggests. However, NCL is designed to be able to work within the existing limits by closing the files after each access. Unfortunately, this option is not working for NetCDF4 files in the current release version of NCL. However, it has been recently fixed. The way to access the option is by using the "SuppressClose" file option by executing the following line prior to calling addfiles: setfileoption("nc","SuppressClose",False) If Gus's suggestions don't work for you, you can ask us for a new NCL binary with the fix. His warning about memory is important to consider though. If you don't have enough, you still will not be able to access the complete variable. However, note that the significant memory use does not occur until you actually access a variable using, e.g.: v = f[:]->var_name_in_file You could open all the files using addfiles but restrict yourself to read a subset of the total aggregated variable size at a time in a loop. -dave On Nov 15, 2013, at 12:46 PM, Gus Correa
