I'd certainly suggest that you verify your backups are both complete and functional.I have also seen the error with a failing SCSI cable. Maybe the driver wasn't ready and the operation had to be defered. Maybe the disk was too busy and the operation timed out.You should suspect failing hardware, but only if confirmation can be obtained from proper analysis.
