The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted' KB ID 0000826 Dtd 27/06/13 Problem remote desktop connection an authentication error has occurred I saw this while attempting to create a remote desktop connection to a Windows 2012 remote desktop connection an authentication error has occurred the encryption type Server. (Though connecting to Windows 8 will be the same). I'd only just set this server up, and knew I'd enabled RDP, an internal error has occurred remote desktop and I was attempting to connect as the domain administrator, so at first I was a little perplexed. Solution If you have direct/local access to the machine you are trying to connect to. 1. Press Windows Key+R > https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/954975f2-743c-413f-8cc3-037bf3e35b09/remote-desktop-the-local-security-authority-cannot-be-contacted?forum=w7itpronetworking In the run box type sysdm.cpl {enter} > Remote. 2. Remove the tick from "Allow connections only form computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)". 3. Try again. If you do not have direct/local access to the machine you are trying to connect to. 1. On YOUR Machine > Windows Key+R > type regedit {Enter} > File > Connect Network Registry > Type in the details for the machine you are trying to http://www.petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000826 connect to > OK. 2. Navigate to; {remote-machine-name} > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Terminal Server > WinStations > RDP-Tcp Locate the UserAuthentication value and change it to 1 (one) > OK > Exit the registry editor. 3. Try again. Disable RDP Network Level Authentication via Group Policy If the destination server is in a remote data centre or remote location, and you cannot access the System Properties, you can turn this option off with group policy, and wait a couple of hours. 1. On a DC > Start > Group Policy Management > Either create a new group policy object and link it to the OU containing the problem machine, or edit and existing one. (Here on my test network I'm going to edit the default domain policy - WARNING this will disable this feature on all machines in a production environment! 2. Navigate to; Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security 3. Locate the 'Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication' policy. 4. Set the policy to Disabled > Apply > OK > Close the Group Policy Management Editor. 5. How long before the Group Policy will affect the target machine? Group policies are processed when a machine starts u

The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. While trying to login on a https://www.windowstechupdates.com/an-authentication-error-has-occurred-the-local-security-authority-cannot-be-contacted/ server remotely using the remote desktop connection, I received this error. Everything https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/316892-an-authentication-error-occurred-rdp seems pretty normal and working fine but still the user was not able to login to remote server. This problem can occur in stand alone server as well as in domain environment. Different reasons may give you this same error. If you are part of a domain then your server have error has a problem while getting authentication from the domain controller because the domain controller don’t trust the client computer. Other scenario can be in the stand alone server where the password of the respected user is expired and server’s groups policy have a password policy. Solution!!!! If the problematic server is the part of a domain then you have to login to this server error has occurred using the console and then uncheck the check box given in the picture above. If your server is a stand alone server installed and configured on a cloud facility like Azure then you have to login to this server using the super admin, the user which you created while configuration of the virtual machine and then change the password of the problematic user and make sure that user change his/her password before the password expiry message reaches its limit. « 403 – Forbidden: Access is denied. It’s not a solution to just say “remove all of your security and pull your pants down” and then it will work. Reply Akaunt Zaspam May 6, 2016 @ 11:10 am I definitely would prefer having NLA enabled. One should troubleshoot this error thoroughly. I had the same problem which was easily mitigated by d

I have traced the issue to a server that is issuing the error attached. The user has local admin rights to the server but we cannot RDP to the server and I believe that this is the reason why BE 2012 keeps failing on all the jobs (full and differential). I have reset the password for the domain account and given the user local admin rights to the machine with the same password (just to check if that was the cause), but still keep having backup failures. Symantec support says that it is a problem with the AD account and I am leaning toward that. The password is not expired and I have reset the password to reset the countdown to change the password. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve the attached error? Can you access other computers once logged in? 1 Cayenne OP Keith - Randox Mar 23, 2013 at 9:10 UTC Could it possibly be the AD computer account that is at fault? Maybe disjoin the server, reset the computer account in AD and rejoin the server to the domain. 2 Cayenne OP Breakingcustom Mar 24, 2013 at 8:13 UTC Does it say that for every single account? Have you tried to RDP using a local login and not a domain login? 0 Chipotle OP Chris1411 Mar 24, 2013 at 9:37 UTC I can log in as that user on other servers; just not that one. I can log into that server as another AD and local acocunt. I will need to schedule a time for the suggestion to unjoin/rejoin the server back to the domain but would like to see if there are any other suggestions for a resolution. 0 Habanero OP BizDPS Mar 25, 2013 at 12:01 UTC Chris1
