If you are part of a domain then your server have https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/954975f2-743c-413f-8cc3-037bf3e35b09/remote-desktop-the-local-security-authority-cannot-be-contacted?forum=w7itpronetworking a problem while getting authentication from the domain controller because the domain controller don’t trust the client computer. Other scenario can be in the stand alone server where the password of the respected user is expired and server’s groups policy have a password policy. Solution!!!! If the problematic server is the part of a domain then you have to login to this server https://www.windowstechupdates.com/an-authentication-error-has-occurred-the-local-security-authority-cannot-be-contacted/ using the console and then uncheck the check box given in the picture above. If your server is a stand alone server installed and configured on a cloud facility like Azure then you have to login to this server using the super admin, the user which you created while configuration of the virtual machine and then change the password of the problematic user and make sure that user change his/her password before the password expiry message reaches its limit. « 403 – Forbidden: Access is denied. It’s not a solution to just say “remove all of your security and pull your pants down” and then it will work. Reply Akaunt Zaspam May 6, 2016 @ 11:10 am I definitely would prefer having NLA enabled. One should troubleshoot this error thoroughly. I had the same problem which was easily mitigated by disablin

I have traced https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/316892-an-authentication-error-occurred-rdp the issue to a server that is issuing the error attached. The user http://serverfault.com/questions/555446/getting-local-security-authority-cannot-be-contacted-error-message-when-logonh has local admin rights to the server but we cannot RDP to the server and I believe that this is the reason why BE 2012 keeps failing on all the jobs (full and differential). I have reset the password for the domain account and given the user local admin rights to the error has machine with the same password (just to check if that was the cause), but still keep having backup failures. Symantec support says that it is a problem with the AD account and I am leaning toward that. The password is not expired and I have reset the password to reset the countdown to change the password. When an account with restricted logonHours (defined in ActiveDirectory) tries to connect at a denied time, the client (Remote Desktop Connection) responds with: An authentication error has occurred. The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted. If the account tries to login at allowed times, everything works fine. If Network Level Authentication is not required, then the client connects to the server, which denies the logon, but displays the much nicer error message "Your account has time restrictions..." Is there some way to still require NLA, but present the friendlier notice about time restrictions? Am I missing a policy setting or some other configuration? windows-server-2012 remote-desktop-services share|improve this question asked Nov 16 '13 at 16:12 kardeiz 10017 Please check the below link for solution petenetlive.com/KB/Article/0000826.htm –user265344 Jan 16 '15 at 11:44 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote The RDP client will display a nice,
