A Disc Error Has Occurred
Joined: Tue Oct 21, 2008 2:59 pm Posts: 2 Hey Lads & Ladys,Wonder if anyone could help me out. My TeraStation TS-RHTGL/R5 nas navigator F/W 1.23 recently has started having problems copying to an external USB Drive. It will start copying and will carry on doing so for around 2 hours then come up with the error "Backup task1 has completed. Backup result: A Disk Backup error has occurred."I have had this problem before, it happened when it tryed to copy a large file (around 1.5GB, maybe higher) to the USB Drive. Unfortunatly I cannot find a file that is around or big enough that size that would cause this error again.I have tried changing the USB Drive and checked it has enough space too and had no luck.Anyone have a solution or magic fix for this problem? or even a place were i can find abit more infomation about this error. Thanks in advance Top Profile Reply with quote ciscokidinsf Post subject: Re: TS-RHTGL/R5 USB Transfer ProblemsPostPosted: Fri Oct 24, 2008 6:41 pm Offline Newbie Joined: Sat Apr 07, 2007 7:55 pm Posts: 60 I had one of the USB drives gimme trouble a little while back. What I did was to use the 'diskcheck' function in the TS GUI. After that it worked OK. Sometimes if you have a shutdown near mid-transfer it will not come back to normal. After the diskcheck of the USB drive, reboot the TS. If the storage is tape based, this is usually caused by dirty read/write heads in the tape drive. Clean the tape drive, and then try the job again. If the problem persists, try a different tape. You may also need to check for problems with cables, termination, or other hardware issues. If the storage is disk based, check that the storage subsystem is functioning properly.
