vote favorite Getting a very strange error in the Event Log while trying the access a precompiled asp.net page. The error is Event Code 3007, "A compilation error has occurred. Further information reveals that it's tripping on the ClientIDMode property of the page, which is set to Static. I have several other pages that use this same ClientIDMode=Static property with no problems. Also this compiles and runs just fine in a exception type: httpcompileexception exception message: external component has thrown an exception. development environment. It's only when I move it to another server that the problem crops up. What could it be? asp.net vb.net asp.net-mvc-4 share|improve this question asked Jun 23 '14 at 20:23 christok 107111 Can you check that, on the server causing the problem, the App Pool is running under .NET 4 and not 2 ? ClientIDMode is not supported before v4 –sh1rts Jun 24 '14 at 1:08 I did check that, but thanks for the suggestion! –christok Jun 24 '14 at 18:16 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted I'm not sure exactly why this error was occurring, but I was able to work around it by unchecking the "Allow this precompiled site to be updatable" option when publishing. share|improve this answer answered Jun 24 '14 at 18:18 christok 107111 This is worth a look, it describes the differences between setting or not setting that option - stackoverflow.com/questions/11975787/… –sh1rts Jun 25 '14 at 3:36 Very helpful. when launching a SharePointsite. January 13, 2010 秦 磊 / Lambert Qin Leave a comment Go to comments Scenario: SharePoint installation and configuration completed without error. Central Administration site opened OK, I create a https://lambertqin.wordpress.com/2010/01/13/%E2%80%9Cserver-error-in-application-compilation-error%E2%80%9D-when-launching-a-sharepoint-site/ new web application as well as a new site collection, when I navigated to the site collection, I got an ugly error: Well, I disabled Custom Error, restart IIS and got http://discussions.citrix.com/topic/103374-wi-50-compilation-error/ more information on what happened. Full error in the Event Viewer is as follows (I bold the information may be useful for troubleshooting ): Event Type: WarningEvent Source: ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0Event Category: Web error has Event Event ID: 1310User: N/ADescription:Event code: 3007 Event message: A compilation error has occurred. It did not exist as I expected. Then I checked the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder permission, it is OK, the group IIS_WPG which contains IQIN\PortalPool account had properly permissions. I was confused here, and I decided to capture a Process Monitor trace to see how csc.exe worked in this case. Opened the Process Monitor > start a capture > refresh the page > error occurred > stop the capture. Wow, the ‘Access is denied' is threw out at C:\Windows\Temp (%TEMP% or %TMP%) folder. Quick check the permissions on that folder. Here it is, WSS_WPG group which contains IQIN\PortalPool account did not have Write permission on the folder. Add Write and Modify permissions on the folder, issue resolved! Like this:Like Loading... Related Categories: Break&Fix Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Leave a comment Trackback No comments yet.
