business object APIs, as well as common features and functionality among all APIs and across each API procedure type. This chapter covers the following topics:Business Object APIs OverviewSeeded Business Object APIsBusiness Object API FeaturesCreate Business Object API ProceduresUpdate Business Object API ProceduresSave Business Object API ProceduresGet Business Object API Procedures Business Object APIs Overview Use the public business object APIs to perform operations on the seeded business objects. See: Business Objects Overview. Because business objects logically encapsulate specific areas of the Oracle Trading Community Architecture (TCA) data model, these types of business object API procedures let you directly manipulate TCA data: Create: Creates an instance of the business object in the database. Update: Updates a specific business object according to provided values. Save: Either creates or updates a business object, depending if the passed identification information matches an existing business object. Get: Extracts and returns data for either a single, complete business object, or all objects affected by a specific business event. Business objects can contain a hierarchy of embedded business objects, business structures, and granular entities. Even though you use business object APIs at the object level, that initial API call triggers subsequent business object or granular API calls down the hierarchy. For example, see: Granular Versus Business Object APIs. For details on each API, including description, PL/SQL procedure, parameters, and validations, see: Oracle Integration Repository. Answer The best method of embedding objects using Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) automation is to use the Create menu to embed them into Notes Rich Text fields (RTF). To edit these embedded objects, it is recommended to save all changes within the external application first, before saving the Notes document. Following these steps will reduce and most likely eliminate OLE corruption that is sometimes caused by embedding and editing objects. To embed an object into a Notes document: 1. Create/Access a Notes database that has a form with a Rich Text field. For testing purposes, you may wish to create a new database using the discussion template. Once inside this new database, click on the button to create a "New Main Topic." 2. Place the cursor in a RTF. 3. Embed an object by executing: a. Create > Object b. Click 'Object from File' and browse to choose the file you wish to embed, OR you may embed a new object (not from a currently existing file) by selecting other options within the embed dialog box. c. Check the 'Display as Icon' checkbox (Optional. You may prefer to display the object within the document instead.). 4. Click OK to return to the Notes document. 5. Save and close the Notes document. You have successfully embedded an object into a Rich Text field. To edit an embedded object within a Notes document: 1. Place the Notes document containing the embedded Excel object in Edit mode. 2. Right-click the embedded object and select Open. This will open the file and launch the parent application; OR you may double-click the object to launch it within its parent application. 3. Make your changes in
