After a lot of work there http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6623596/error-lnk2019-unresolved-external-symbol-in-vs2008-with-itk-and-fftw is no further compilation errors, but in the linking process I am having the following info : 1>------Generation started: proyect: prueba_r01, configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1>Linking… 1>Creating library C:\Documents and Settings\GTTS\Mis documentos\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\prueba_r01\Debug\prueba_r01.lib and object C:\Documents and Settings\GTTS\Mis documentos\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\prueba_r01\Debug\prueba_r01.exp 1>prueba_r01.obj : error LNK2019: extern symbol "public: double (* __thiscall prueba_r01::multiply_matrix_2D(double ()[2],double ()[2],int,int))[2]" (?multiply_matrix_2D@prueba_r01@@QAEPAY01NPAY01N0HH@Z) unresolved which is referenced in the function "private: void __thiscall prueba_r01::filtro(void)" (?filtro@prueba_r01@@AAEXXZ) 1>C:\Documents and Settings\GTTS\Mis documentos\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\prueba_r01\Debug\prueba_r01.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 externos sin resolver 1>prueba_r01 - 2 errors, 0 warnings ========== Generar: 0 corrects, 1 incorrects, 0 actualized, 0 omited ========== The method multiply_matrix_2D produces the error when is called inside the private slot “filtro()” (translated as filter) The header of the file is : #include

The project error lnk2019 looks like this:sum.cppCode: [Select]// sum.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application.
//
#include "stdafx.h"
#include
extern "C" int sumX(void);
int main()
{
std::cout << sumX() << "\n" ;
return 0;
}
sum.asmCode: [Select]section .text ;
global _sumX ;
_sumX:
mov eax,7
unresolved external symbol ret
Why does that fail to compile? It looks like the linker somehow fails to add the _sumX() function to the project, but I don't know if this is the case / why it happens.The error://update:- changing the name of the sum.cpp file - new errors*- changing the name of the sum.obj file - the program compilesThe errors:Could it be that both sum.cpp and sum.asm compiled to sum.obj and this prevents the linker from properly linking the functions? (if this is the case, then why when changing .cpp file name doesn't solve the issue) « Last Edit: June 04, 2012, 05:21:52 PM by trismarck » Logged TightCoderEx Full Member Offline Posts: 103 Re: Visual Studio 2008 - "LNK2019: unresolved external symbol" error « Reply #1 on: June 04, 2012, 10:32:03 PM » As it was 7 yrs ago, I don't remember exactly how I solved that problem, but I seem to think undercoating _sum or decorating your declaration extern "C" int _sum(void) might solve the problem. Have a look in kernel32.inc and see how it's done there. L
