I php enable error messages have restarted my apache web server. I have even put these lines at the top of my script and it doesn't even catch simple parse errors. For example, I declare variables with a "$" and I don't close statements";". But all my scripts show a blank page on these errors, but i want to actually see the errors in my browser output. error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1); What is left to do? php error-reporting share|improve this question edited Mar 9 at 7:16 Maninderpreet

The Zend parser (the one used by php) is executed before the script is executed. So, if the script has syntactic errors, these ini_set directives are never executed and every existing syntactic error is never displayed; only logged. If you want to show syntactic errors, you have to set display_errors

Some errors are only reported when all PHP error reporting is switched on. Without the error reporting on, you get the dreaded White Screen of Death. Check for errors behind the scenes As an alternative between showing no errors and showing all errors, you may wish to monitor the errors being generated by your site by running tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log on your server. Change settings in your dev site You can show all errors by adding a few lines to your local testing site's settings.php: error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', TRUE
