It was really slow and it would restart all by itself. I don't know if it was IEFIX because I have been downloading some software lately. I thought it might be a virus, but I found that scanning my second partition was impossible. So I opened up My Computer and tried to open the partition and got an error:D:\ is not accessibleError performing inpage operation.I hope ther

First my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8500) stopped booting, giving me a BSOD every time I tried. I took out the HD

and mounted it in an external drive enclosure (NexStar USB 2.0) and hooked it up to my desktop to get the data off it before reformatted the drive, assuming at this point that it was just a corrupted copy of windows I https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/error-performing-inpage-operation-104879/ was dealing with. However, when I tried to open the drive in windows explorer I got a “can not read drive F: Error Performing Inpage Operation” message. I tried rebooting the system a couple times to no avail. After an online search the only info I was able to find was that my HD was probably failing and to try Ontrack’s Easy Recovery Pro. I tried the software and I was able to see the data on the drive just fine, but to get http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/224954-32-trouble-quot-error-performing-inpage-operation-quot it off I will have to buy the software. This is going to set me back about $90. It’s worth it to me to get the data(serves me right for not backing up my data as often as I should), but I hate to shell out the cash if I’m just missing something simple that would let me access the drive. Thank you in advance for your advice, I’ve found the comments on this site invaluable over the years. System Specs. I created all kinds of boot disks to get 600+ pictures and videos from our hols this summer and could see and read the data. I couldn't for the life of me get the laptop to recognise usb2 and was left to copying in usb1 mode at 2.5-5mb per picture this was taking too long. i have removed the drive and placed on a usb -sata dongle and found this tip in www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=158047 use RUN and cmd in dos window - then type chkdsk [drive:] /r which should perform a more thorough ch

Following are the causes of the error message and what to do at this. Causes: • The error message only comes up when you try to access any partition on the drive or perform some operations on it. • The error message can also mean that your drive is in bad state and is experiencing some physical problems. What to do: When you start receiving this error, no doubt your hard disk is in bad condition. There is nothing much that can be done with this problem and also there is no solution available for that so just back up most of the data that you can and send it for replacement. It is time you should have a new hard disk for yourself.
