When I go to the Reporting Services Configuration Manager I have all greens except for the Web Service Identity field. Trying to set that isn't working...the ASP.Net service account is NT Authority\Network Service, and the application pools defined are using that Network Service account as well. When I hit the "Apply" button I get a message saying: Setting Web Service Identity There was an error setting the identity for the web service. The previously set identity will still be used. I'm trying to install Team Foundation Server on the box, and when I run the tfrsconfig /verify tool I see that the Web Service Identity is not set at all. I've been battling this for a couple of days now with no effect. I even broke down and gave "Everyone" administrative access on the server in an attempt to fix it. Thanks for any help Monday, January 22, 2007 3:52 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hello Joe, I think you'll need to edit the rsreportserver.config file in the directory: X:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.x\Reporting Services\ReportServer. Everything work fine except for subscriptions. We can run reports all day long, but I get an internal error when trying to set up a subscription. I went to Reporting Service Configuration Manager and the Web Service Identity didn't error setting identity set up properly and is RED X. When I try to assign an application pool, I'll get another error telling me that I need to create a virtual directory. "ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: A virtual directory must first be created before performing this operation. at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.SetWebServiceIdentity(String applicationPool)" When I look up in the list on the Configuration Manager, it is GREEN Checked, but if I try to apply default settings, I get the same error. Like I said before, reports work, but subscriptions don't, so I would think the virtual directories were made.Any ideas? And you are not configuring data driven subscription in SQL Server standard? If the answer is yes to both question are you running Vista or Win2008?

The most likely cause is an error retrieving WMI properties. The exception details are: InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex Here is a screenshot: EDIT: This problem disappeared after I installed SP3 for SQL Server. I have problems on the next panes though. Now on the Web Service Identity pane the ASP.net service account textbox is empty, I select classic app pool for both dropdowns -> click apply and I get an error "There was an error setting the identity for the web service. The previously set identity will be used." and the details: ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: The account name is not valid.
