microsoft outlook must be closed because an error occurred mac office 2011 But I am not sure if people follow answered questions - I tried disabling add-ins (all) and Outlook still prompts me to save the NormalEmail when closing. I read that creating a registry entry: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2405496 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Office\\Outlook\\Addins\\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1 DWORD: RequireShutdownNotification Value: 1 Would help, but it never. Every one of my users is on the same build and same version of Office, but its only happening on one machine. I went into Word and looked at the Prompt save kind of thing for templates there and everything is normal. I dont know where to go now :( Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Outlook 2010 Closing Emails Intermittent https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/215607-outlook-2010-normalemail-prompts-to-save-when-closing password prompts on Outlook 2010 Always having a problem in the morning when opening Outlook 2010   13 Replies Serrano OP Drew Heath Apr 12, 2012 at 9:13 UTC Just out of curiosity, have you tried running Outlook in safemode (outlook.exe /safe)? What happens if you log into the machine and configure Outlook? Any strange permissions on the Program Files directory? 0 Chipotle OP MissLL Apr 12, 2012 at 9:27 UTC When I login as safe mode, it is ok, it doesnt prompt for save. What do you mean permissions on the Program directory? 0 Cayenne OP Suzanne2324 Apr 12, 2012 at 9:36 UTC I am wondering what would happen if you close outlook, navigate to the folder where the normalemail.dotm template is located and you delete it or rename it with .old. When Outlook opens again it will recreate the normalemail.dotm. Maybe the current one is corrupted? 0 Chipotle OP MissLL Apr 12, 2012 at 9:44 UTC It doesnt do that with anyone else though, and we are all using templates in a workgroup so I cant delete it and reinstate unfortunately. Besides it wouldnt recreate as that user because they wont have the permissions to save to the shhere for a quick overview of the site Help Center Detailed answers to any questions you might have Meta Discuss the workings and policies of this site About http://superuser.com/questions/163385/outlook-fails-to-open-with-error-microsoft-outlook-exited-without-properly-cl Us Learn more about Stack Overflow the company Business Learn more about hiring developers or posting ads with us Super User Questions Tags Users Badges Unanswered Ask Question _ Super User is a https://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntclose.htm question and answer site for computer enthusiasts and power users. Exiting Lync completely allows Outlook to restart. share|improve this answer answered Jul 26 '11 at 16:11 Tom Morgan 69152 7 I had this exact problem and closing Lync fixed it. –Puddingfox Aug 23 '11 at 14:14 3 Ran into the same problem, Microsoft Communicator turned out to be the greedy file handler. –Dan Ling Jun 21 '12 at 14:20 Lync is such a sticky piece of crap.
