Error When Installing Kazaa
has come under fire in the last several years from copyright lawyers, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and others for promoting copyright violations. In fact as of September 5, 2005, An Australian court ruled that users of the popular Internet file-sharing network Kazaa were breaching copyright and ordered its owners to modify the software to prevent online music piracy. One of the problems, aside from the various legal issues associated with it, is the fact that Kazaa bundles many other programs with it when it installs. These programs including TopSearch, RX Toolbar, Instafinder, Cydoor, Altnet Peer Points Manager, and Need2Find Bar (agreement is shown below) are accepted by the end user to allow to install during the Kazaa installation. Older versions of Kazaa installed Gator, SaveNow, and KeenValue Euniverse as well.Although these programs as stated by Kazaa are not technically spyware, they do slow the computer down in various ways and load upon startup. How Do I Remove Kazaa and its installed programs?Simply because of the legal implications, it may be a good idea to uninstall Kazaa. The problem is what is currently installed with Kazaa 3.0 and what can be removed. Follow the instructions below to uninstall the programs and associated files attached to Kazaa.1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel2) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs3) Find "RX Bar" and click Change/Remove at the bottom of the window to begin its removal.4) Find "InstaFinderK" and click Change/Remove5) Find "Need2Find Bar" and click Change/Remove6) Find "Peer Points Manager" and click Change/Remove7) Find "P2P Networking" and click Change/Remove. Warning, this program may have already been removed by a previous step. Don't worry if you cant find it in the list.8) Find "Kazaa 3.0" and click Change/Remove. Once this is removed restart your computer.Once the computer is restarted, there are still some files that need to be removed. If you run HijackThis, you'll find the following lines still remaining.O2 - BHO: RXResultTracker Class - {59879FA4-4790-461c-A1CC-4EC4DE4CA483} - C:\Program Files\RXToolBar\sfcont.dll (file missing)O18 - Filter: text/html - {2AB289AE-4B90-428

Do you have permission to install software under your user account? Reply With Quote 02-15-200410:27 PM #3 Mandate439 Guest Sorry about that, I'm new here so thanks for the info. Yes, I meant installing, I am using XP, and I am an administrator. I actually tried installing K-Lite on another user (which is also an administrator), and the install was succesful; the error didn't occur. I really can offer no information as to why it would not install on one user and not the other. I was wondering if anyone had some insigh
caused by wbhook32.dll and the recommended solutions to each of those issues. Unexpected exception error with wbhook32.dll when opening Internet Explorer Freecell or Solitaire games after installing Mcafee VirusScan When opening Microsoft Internet Explorer or the run window I receive an unexpected exception error with the wbhook32.dll file. Users who are using new P2P sharing programs such as KaZaA that include their own virus protection program and are also running McAfee virus protection program may encounter this error. If you have installed KaZaA or eDonkey on your computer, you can verify this is the cause of your issue by opening the Windows Task Manager and end tasking KaZaA from the Processes. To resolve this issue, it is recommended users disable their Mcafee "download scan" feature. Note: If you need to determine your version of Mcafee, right-click the V shield icon in the Windows notification area and click the About option. Mcafee 5.x users: right-click the V shield icon in the Windows notification area. Under "Quick Enable" select "Download Scan" to disable and enable the feature. Mcafee 6.x and users: right-click the V shield icon in the Windows notification area and click Run. Click the Pick a Task button in the bottom left of the window. Click the link for Change my VirusScan Settings. Click the link for Configure Vshield background Settings. Uncheck Download Scan and apply the changes. Mcafee 7.x users: Mcafee 7 users should not be experiencing this issue. If none of the recommendations on this page resolve your issue, you may want to consider updating your version of KaZaA, eDonkey, and Mcafee or uninstalling KaZaA and eDonkey. Freecell or Solitaire games after installing McAfee VirusScan Although no error regarding wbhook32.dll is reported, it is known that issues with Freecell or Solitaire may arise after a custom installation of McAfee VirusScan.
