Category:UK Appliance Share this conversation Expert: Daniel T. replied5 years ago. HiF10 is heater open circuit or one shot stat faulty. Both are on the back. Take off the buldge cover on the back and take out the heater from there.Check the heater and see if it has blown. If its ok look on top of the heater and http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/5kk7y-hotpoint-tumbledryer-ctd80-showing-code-f10-fault.html you will see some thermostats. The 1 on the left is the one shot stat. To check this you will need a multimeter. If faulty then the way to reset it is look in the middle of the stat and if theres a small hole in there use a pin and push it down there and if you here a click then you have just reset the thermostat. If theres no small hole in there then you cannot reset it and it will need to be replaced. So check them and see what you find. Fingers crossed you can just reset the thermostat and this will cure the problem.Regards Ask Your Own UK Appliance Question Customer: replied5 years ago. Jul 2007. shoei Joined: 6 Jul 2007 Messages: 1 Thanks Received: 0 Country: Error code comes up on my tumble dryer "F10 - Common of heater open or one shot open - Book a service engineer" what does this mean and can I fix it? Thankyou shoei, 6 Jul 2007 #1 breezer Joined: 3 Jan 2003 Messages: 23,324 Thanks Received: 30 Location: Sussex Country: it means Common of heater open or one shot open in other words the heater has had it or the one shot stat has had it. but the question is why? if the output hose is blocked, the heat can not get out fast enough, so the one shot stat operates. T/D's do produce a lot of fluff / lint. if you have a wall vent take it off and see is it all blocked with fluff, they do have an insect screen to stop insects coming in, unfortunately this also catches fluf on the way out. you must find the cause first then change the heater or more likely the stat breezer, 7 Jul 2007 #2 MarkJL Joined: 9 Jul 2007 Messages: 2 Thanks Received: 1 Location: Leicester Country: If you remove the back cover of the drier with the appliance un pluged, you will see the heater bracket. un screw this from the back panel, and at the top you will see three thermostats. There is a brown one with a small hole in the middle, if you use a pin and press in, you should hear a click. This resets the thermostat and you should be able to use the drier again. Apparently a common fault on these indicit based driers. Did exactly as you mentioned in your post Mark. Except that I found that I had to unscrew the thermostat ( the one on the right , hotpoint cdt 80) to find the tiny hole. The click on resetting was a pleasure to hear.
