Report This by Dan Hawkins January 29th, 2010 I have a Kenmore model 790.9611 slide in range/oven. The last two time f10 error on frigidaire oven I used the oven to heat something up the food was burned on top and raw kenmore oven f10 error beeping on the bottom and there was an F10 code displayed. The first time I cleared the code, reprogram the oven setting but the same what does f10 mean on a frigidaire oven thing happened again. What is the F10 code? The F10 error code indicates a runaway oven temperature. The only way to reset the range, is to disconnect it from the outlet or go to the main circuit breaker of the home and switch it off for 20-30 minutes, then restore kenmore gas oven f10 error code the power. If disconnecting the power for a few minutes does not help, the EOC (electronic oven control) may need to be replaced. Follow these steps to replace the EOC: Unplug the range. Remove the rear access panel from the console. Write down the wiring locations, or a digital camera may come in handy for this. Remove the wiring being careful not to pull on the wires - pull on the lugs. Remove the mounting screws that hold the control board in place. The new board may not come with the overlay (this is the plastic piece the covers the front of the board with all the printing on it. This can be reused. Carefully remove the overlay and place it on the new board. Install new control board using care not to handle the board components as much as possible. Reconnect all wiring. Reinstall back panel. Checked the probe on back of stove with an ohm meter, it was good. Then ordered a new OCR from Amazon and that didn't help. Found a site where guy said check all the purple wires since the wiring is colored coded. THIS IS PRICELESS INFO. The problem is in the purple wiring. On my st

Add your answer Sign in to answer a question 2 Answers from these members: The F10 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board is detecting a runaway (extremely high) temperature in the oven. If this is happening before the oven even begins heating or is not up to the set temperature, then you could f10 error have a failed oven temperature sensor or a failed electronic control board. A wire harness failure could also cause this problem. If the oven heats to an extremely high temperature and then you see this F10, then you likely have a stuck relay on the electronic oven control board and it will need to be replaced. A technician will normally need to diagnose and repair this type of failure. If you want to attempt to diagnose and repair this failure yourself, I recommend kenmore oven f10 unplugging the range and checking the oven temperature sensor probe first. You will need a volt/ohm meter to check the resistance of this component. You can access the wiring disconnect plug on some models by removing the screws that secure the probe on the inside back wall of the oven. Some models have the probe secured with screws on the back panel of the oven. If the probe is secured by screws on the inside of the oven cavity, remove the screws and carefully pull the probe inside the oven cavity until you can access and unplug the wiring disconnect plug. Measure the resistance across the leads of the probe. You should measure about 1100 ohms at room temperature. The resistance chart for the temperature probe is shown in the first image below. If the temperature probe resistance is high, then this is likely causing your F10 code. The probe would need to be replaced. You can order a new one from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 316217003. If the resistance of the temperature probe is okay, then you could have a wire harness problem or a failed control board. The next step would be to reconnect the probe and then remove the upper back panel to access the electronic oven control board. A diagram of the wiring connections on the electronic control board is shown in the second image below. I recommend checking the resistance through the temperature probe circuit that
on your Kenmore stove, there's a runaway temperature-contol issue. Related Articles How to Troubleshoot Code F4 on the Kenmore Electric Stove How to Change the Heat Sensor on a GE Oven Troubleshooting a Kenmore Dryer That Keeps Running If food baked in your Kenmore electric stove comes out burned on the top, yet remains raw on the bottom, first make sure you have a model number starting with 790.9, and then check the control board display. Unlike earlier models, this particular series is equipped with all the fault codes related to the oven. If you see an F10 error code, reset the control board by unplugging the range's power cord and tripping the relevant breaker switch. Wait one minute, restore power, and then run a test by reheating the oven. If the error code persists, the control board has sensed a runaway temperature condition and turned the oven off. To pinpoint the problem, unplug the stove's power cord or trip the breaker switch again, and then carry out some troubleshooting steps. Visual Inspection Open the oven door and use a flashlight to inspect the heating elements for physical damage such as a break or blistering. If both the bake and broil elements appear sound, look for localized charred spots adjacent to the element prongs protruding through the back wall of your Kenmore stove. If you detect charring or damage, replace both elements. If not, proceed with various multimeter continuity tests. Multimeter Calibration When using an analog multimeter, calibrate the instrument before carrying out continuity tests. Set the rotary dial to the lowest ohms of resistance setting, pinch the probes together and rotate the knurled adjusting wheel on the side of the instrument until the needle reads zero ohms. Alternatively, if you're using a digital multimeter, it will automatically be set to zero, but ensure to set it to the lowest ohms-of-resistance setting before starting. Oven Elements Remove the stove's rear panel to access all necessary connections. Undo the terminal screws and disconnect both heating-element wires. Touch one multimeter probe into the left heating-element terminal and the other probe into the right terminal whi
