I'm just poking around here looking for some advice. I purchased my 2006 ford fusion in August of 06 and have had no problems with it. Recently my in dash 6 cd changer has been experiencing errors when I try to eject or change the cd. It acts like it's going to work then after a few minutes I get an error on the screen saying either 'eject error' or 'cd error' Now it's to the point that I cannot remove my cd or play it. I called a dealership in the area(not where I bought it, they have closed) and asked them about it. They said they only take out the disc changer and send it off and give you a replacement to the tune of $300 to $400. I was just wondering if anyone else has had these problems and what they did to fix it. I was also wondering if there were any recalls on the stereo. My car has about 56,500 miles on it so it is outside of the factory warranty and this problem d

I had a disc in there and it was playing ford fusion fine yesterday. Today, I turn on the car and the cd player makes some weird popping noises and the CD doesn't play consistantly (different sounding than typical skipping). I then eject the cd to confirm that there are no scratches and put it back in and it won't play at all. The screen displays "Reading Disc" for about 15 seconds and then it ford fusion cd goes to FM and displays "CD Error" when I try it again, it plays. Now for the interesting part. I placed the trouble CD in CD6 and it plays fine and I place a brand new CD where the trouble CD was and it plays fine. So I am not sure why my player was acting up. Is is possible that the laser is going bad? changer will not eject cd's says eject error and then shows there is no cd in the slot. Is there something i can do to fix this? Any way to reset the unit? Submitted: 6 years ago. Category:Ford Share this conversation Expert: Chuck replied6 years ago. You can try and run a self test on the unit and see if you have any on demand codes which are hard faults or if it has any continuous memory codes which are intermittent. If the codes are intermittent then you can try clearing them and see if this cures the problem,if they are on demand codes then the unit will have to be removed for repairs. Here are your instructions for doing this, preset one is for on demand codes and preset 2 if for continuous.Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic ModeNOTE: To enter the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be turned on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM).To enter the following tests, press the desired preset button while in the speaker walk-around test or while in the audio unit self-diagnostic mode.To exit the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, turn the key OFF or the audio unit off.If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. The self-diagnostic mode has the following functions available: Preset button 1 = On-Demand Self-Test. This button runs the on-demand self-test. Pressing the MENU DOWN button allows scrolling of any DTCs found during the test while in this menu.Preset button 2 = Display Continuous DTCs. This button enables viewing of any continuous DTCs that have been logged. Pressing the MENU UP button allows scrolling of any DTCs while in this menu. While continuous DTCs are being displayed, pressing the EJECT button will clear all present DTCs.Preset button 3 = Signal Strength Test. This button displays the signal strength.Pre
