to fix Grub error 22? Recently, I helped a friend of mine dual-boot Ubuntu on his new laptop. However, we ran into issues with the internet connection and decided to remove it. Now he receives a "Grub error 22" when he starts up the system and can't load Windows Vista. I believe that Grub 22 is when the BIOS attempts to load the Grub bootloader, but it isn't there and doesn't know what to do. The only way I know of to fix this is to reinstall Ubuntu in a really small partition and ignore it, but I'm hoping there is a better way. Please help. You would need a Windows installation cd. With XP, what you did was insert the cd, boot in recovery mode, and then type Code: FIXBOOT and Code: FIXMBR

As far as Irecall, 'doze has to occupy hd0,0, as evinced in the menu.lst ( rootnoverify https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=71035 (hd0,0) ).Deej Offline #3 2009-04-27 15:13:06 JK3mp Member Registered: 2009-03-25 Posts: 105 Re: Grub Error 22 [SOLVED] Ahhh..i must've got mixed up. My only labels, are sda -----sda1 <--some windows default something idk wtf it is, lol. only like 4mb or somethin-------sda2 <----NTFS volume (windows)-------sda3 <-----Linux Volume , and i thought it was based off there label, like hda1, is hd0,1 , and hda2, hd0,2 etc. So would the NTFS volume windows need to be set as (hd0,1) in the grub config? I tried several times, but thus far all i get is error 22 still. Since i dont want the "unknown" in the boot menu, i skip it in grub is that the issue ? i put sda2 as (0,2) and sda3 as (hd0,3) . I thought this was correct and i've switched it up just to see, but no avail. Help please... Offline #5 2009-04-27 16:

Windows 7: GRUB loading Error 22 06 Jun 2012 #1 ESchine Windows 7 Home 64bit 1 posts GRUB loading Error 22 Hi all, I've spent the last several hours reading several helpful topics on this forum, and am hoping this can become one of them! Here's a bit of my situation... I have a Dell XPS 430 that came with Windows Vista and a Win7 upgrade disk. I set up grub loading my main hairddrive with Win7 on one partition, Linux on another partition, and a third partition for storage. I recently needed more space for Windows, and no longer needed Linux, so using the Win7 disk manager I deleted the Linux partition and extended the Win partition using the newly unallocated space. Upon restarting my machine, I am no longer able to boot into windows, but instead am presented with the message: GRUB Loading, please wait... Error 22 I have a Win7 disk that I am using grub loading error to access the repair utility, which I have run countless times. I have tried severel of the tutorials to rebuild BCD and FixMBR, etc etc. Frankly I am getting lost in all the commands and not even sure what does what anymore! Help please???
