Hotsync Error 16397

Thread Status: Not open for further replies. jonbutler Newbie Messages: 3 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Following is a possible fix for a syncing problem with the new Verizon version of the Treo 650. The problem occured in my phone AFTER the initial installation of Palm Desktop software and the first sync to the Treo 650. After several syncs, the syncs to "Tasks" and "Calendar," and in my case to the 3rd party Meeting Maker all stopped, and the log specified error #16397. The fifth call to Palm led to a solution, at least for me. Another user had reported a similar problem and either Palm or Verizon had diagnosed an issue with Wireless Sync, which I have enabled to obtain email. Either VErizon or the user had suggested disabling Wireless Sync. I couldn't find a way to disable Verizon's program Wireless Sync. But in checking the top menus on the program, going to "Setup," then to "Connection Settings," then to "Advanced" (in the bottom right part of the screen, one will see a check-box in the "Advanced Settings" scren for "Enable oother sync apps." This says "Enabling this may duplicate data." CHECK this box. I did, then clicked "OK" and got out of the Wireless Sync program, then did a HotSync. Worked perfectly. Has worked perfectly ever since. But thanks, that is a fix for me. Elliott edunwody, May 28, 2005 #2 holvoetn Still a moderator ... Stranger still is that I can still use speed dial, and my contacts names come up when I get a call, but not their photos. The message I received from the HotSync was that the sync was interrupted. A view of the HotSync Log revealed the following: HotSync 3.2.1 started http://www.smartphoneforums.com/forums/treo-755p/115504-contacts-sync-problem.html 8/13/08 3:32:51 PM Local Synchronization OK Install Voice Memo did nothing To Do List did nothing OK Tasks Media did nothing OK Note Pad OK Memos Memo Pad did nothing Date Book did nothing Contacts synchronization failed “Contacts” failed (error = #16397) OK Calendar Address Book did nothing OK Install Backed up MMIDCache1.pdb Backed up MMIDCache3.pdb Backed up midataidcache.pdb Backed up Saved Preferences.prc OK Backup Last sync time and PC ID updated on handheld HotSync Complete 8/13/08 3:33:48 PM Any ideas? Is there a way to repair this file? I don't have a usable backup of my Address Book data anywhere. But you can't do it by yourself. You have to send the database to Palm Support. They can repair it. /Patrik Quote:> All of a sudden, I can't seem to transfer any Address Book data > between by Palm (in a Kyrocera SmartPhone) and any of my Macs.
